My money would be on the lift pump slowly draining back overnight...

I am suspecting bad over heat. Rad has half of Sailsbury plain in it and although it did not feel to hot at the side of the road (I could hold the back of my hand on the rad...) it had been running solid for most of the day....

Piston melted :rolleyes: Waiting for my honing tool to turn up now... Rebuilding the head at work tommorow night (Don't really need it, but whilst it is apart I might aswell decoke it and do them valve steam seals), just need to strip the pistion out the old engine and put it back together :)

Indeed. I know that in an ideal world, I would take the block out, have it rebored, get some oversized pistions ect ect... All of that = Money. Something that all of us have a great deal of :rolleyes:. I might be bodging it back together but if it runs ok... I could not really care less. I...

It took a LONG time yesterday, but i have hopefully recovered the bore! Used a small screwdriver as a chisel and alot of Emery Cloth... But it looks and feels alright now :D Only problem part is there is a slight mark above the pistion ring travel but that should be alright! Pulled the sump and...

Pulled the head off tonight.... OH COUNTRY FISH STICKS. No.4 Piston has decided to weld part of itself to the bore. :( Oh well... Plan of action is, try using a honing tool to sort the bore out, Use a Pistion Crown from my old engine (Luckily they are both standard size) along with a new set...

Are you a driving instructor....? If not, you were not road legal... You are not allowed to display L plate's when someone with a "Proper" Driving Licence is behind the wheel.

Had a brainwave.. sort of... Is there any possibility, that a ****ed turbo could be pressurising the crankcase or oil system? There is no way that what is coming from the breather is pistion blow-by or similar, it is streaming out... If that turbo is ****ed, it would explain the noise and...

It is a 200TDI, It had a Metal breather with an upwards port at the top and oil was pouring out of there with the engine running. I changed it to the other plastic type and all it is doing now is firing a stream of oil. (Incase that was not clear, it is where the breather pipe that goes to the...

Right... Pulled the push rods and checked em (Straight edge and Rolled them). All Ok. Pulled the Intercooler pipes and the Intercooler has some oil in it, tried firing it up without pipes connected.... Same thing. Changed the Breather for a spare (Old one was a metal type, that I have never...

Right, I think.... Water in oil from a puddle yesterday (Coolant has not gone down a great amount.) Oil coming from breather as it is well over the top STILL Can't work out the noise and smoke though?

I would not have thought rings as the engine was running fine yesterday morning and rings don't suddendly go like that? (Unless I am mistaken?) I have not got a snorkel (Well I have, but it is not connected up :rolleyes:) so I could have taken water in, but I think it is strange that something...

The breather.. Bubbling away from the top of it :(

Just been out to work on the 110 after getting it recovered last night, and it is not the turbo as i thought :eek: Started it up... Fired first time (Was ready to stall it incase it ran away!), Sounds fine, Tiny bit of white smoke... Oil bubbling from the breather! :mad: Was doing about 55...

I want to come... but everytime I go to Sailsbury the 110 ****'s itself :( Oh sod it, Count me in! :D

Attatch some torches to the front of the 90, Replace the fuses and only use hand signals. Simples. :doh::D
