    P38A Intermittent aircon problem.

Two years ago. A recon one. It's a bit of a saga this, I went for a refill and found the condenser was leaking so a second hand one was slapped on. Fired it up only to find the belt had been removed prior to me buying the car. Turned out the pump was screwed. Tried two off eBay, yes I know you...

    P38A Intermittent aircon problem.

I'm pretty sure the levels are fine, I only got the whole system overhauled this year.

    P38A Intermittent aircon problem.

Cheers folks. The system was fully checked when I had a fully recon pump fitted this year. I do realise that when the light above the switch is on the system is off. Thing is this morning it was fine. The book symbol is still on too. Mind boggling. I'll take you up on that sir. When may you...

    P38A Intermittent aircon problem.

hi folks. I had a new air on pump fitted with new seals earlier this year and it worked fine that is until this hot weather arrived. I have noticed that the book symbol appears when the car is warmed from the sun usually above 20 degrees or so. I am certain the aircon doesn't seem to work. The...

    Fuel gauge temperamental...

Mine is a bit dicky too but it under reads. I can put 50 notes in and it'll go to half way then after about 10 mins it pops up to three quarters. It's not the sender as I've had a new in tank pump and float put in. Been told it may be a matter of voltage.

The thing that threw us all was when the RAC said the glow plugs were a bit faulty but not enough for it not to start. Air in the pipes they said. Ho hum.

    Problems starting p38 diesel

Glow plugs. F*****g glow plugs. After all that it was the f*****g glow plugs. Whoever changed them the last time didn't do the hard to get at ones and so left them. Never mind, got a new fuel pump and lines over the tank. Cheers folks.

    Problems starting p38 diesel

Up date on the starting problem. Good mate of mine at crook brothers land rover military vehicles is convinced it's the glow plugs. I got thrown last week from the good old RAC chaps who said that one or two of the glow plugs where deficient but not enough to stop it starting. They thought it...

    Problems starting p38 diesel

Oh dear. Right. Fuel pump changed. Pipe unions on top of pump corroded. So new lines fitted with new unions and tank replaced. Started first time no problems. Left it over night and guess what. Didn't start until 11th or 12th attempt. This is trial and error to the extreme. What do do now? Fuel...

That makes sense. So what you're saying that once I've got the car running the high pressure pump on the engine draws through the fuel from the tank via the filter head and those seals on either side of the head are not under pressure and can therefore let in air ?

Another thing which may have nothing to to with this but my fuel tank reading on the dash is all over the place. I can put 50 notes in but the needle sometimes sticks on say a quarter. Ten mins later it'll shoot up to what it should be. Just thought I'd mention it.

The dimensions would be great. Save me pulling the tank out. So what we are saying in the in tank pump may be screwed. I'll get it over to my mates Monday.

    Problems starting p38 diesel

Didn't do the job. Back to square one. There's plenty of fuel getting through once it's going. Everywhere is bone dry apart from pot no1 hence the off injector lines change. I wouldn't of thought it was the fuel heater but I'll get new seals slapped in the fuel in and out lines. Can't understand...

    Problems starting p38 diesel

Err no. Sadly. Went out this morning an it won't start. This is starting to p**s me off. When it runs it's perfect which would suggest the tank pump and the injector pump are fine. Think the only thing to do is get it connected up to a proper Land Rover diagnostic. Then again if it's air getting...
