Carpets coming out... what to replace with?

Hi all I have a 200TDi Disco, which has had a couple of dips at pay and play. The carpets got wet on Sunday and, although they will dry i'm worried that they will rot the floor if i keep doing this, so the carpets are coming out asap. What do people normally replace with? I was trying to get...

    Wipers won't cancel! Aargh...

Hi all As well as bending a rear trailing arm, soaking my carpets and blocking up the rad, last weekends Pay N Play resulted in broken wipers too! I have a 200 TDi Disco, 1993, and when I switch the wipers to "off", it still stays on the intermittent cycle. All of the other cycles work...

Took it for a dip... now running hit - dirty rad?

Thanks for the advice! Wouldn't want to destroy it. :) So, strip the viscous fan off (I have the spanner from my recent cambelt change) and the fan cowling, then hose it from the inside outwards? Is that the accepted best way to clean it. Presumably I can get a wire brush in there for the...

Took it for a dip... now running hit - dirty rad?

Hi guys I took my 200 TDi disco to pay and play today, and did a run in some muddy water. The car didn't get stuck or anything. This was near the end of the day. The old girl has run all day, but after 40 mins of the run back down the motorway, the engine temp started to increase quite quickly...

    Damn those nails....

Some kids knocked a nail into my rear door-mounted spare on the Disco. Right into the shoulder of the tyre too - little bastids. Caught them in the act, but too late to prevent them getting the nail through. No tyre place will touch a repair, as it's a spare, I don't want to replace it. My next...

    200 TDi - what battery?

Hi all My 200 TDi has a bit of a ropey old starter on it at the moment, mainly because I have one at the garage for a refurb. Anyway, the old Disco was off the road for a while due to a snapped cambelt, and it became obvious my battery is less than good! So, which battery can I use, that has a...

    Find me a disco

If a deal I am looking at on a fender comes off. I'll have a tidy (ish) 200TDi, lifted with off road boots and a snorkel fitted for less than that budget. 1993 with MOT till April and taxed. Would that be of interest? Or where you looking at standard Disco's?

Who to report deliberate green lane obstructions to?

Hi all I got my landy running again Saturday, so went out laneing yesterday morning. I was doing some lanes with a friend, which I did with some others back in April. We managed to get to the start of 5 of the lanes, but unfortunately, 3 of them had been blocked. One had a large tree trunk...

How do I remove a D5 viscous fan?

Get a big driver across the nuts on one of the pulleys and hold it steady, then "shock" it with a good old bang on the spanner. Mine popped off easy then. :)

You would think so, wouldn't you? :D It's at my "storage facility". Meaning it's on the drive at home and i'm working away at the moment.

    Disco Dimensions

Hi folks. Having finally sold our house today, the Mrs and I are looking at new houses. Of course, I'm naturally focusing on garage sizes :D So, how long, wide and tall is a Disco? Mine has a 2" lift, and is wearing 253/70/16's at the mo. So, in old feet and inches - how big is it? Cheers all

    RHD to LHD conversion

Get the LHD V8 and engine swap it? Or sell the RHD back home and buy a LHD over there. Costs and difficulty will make it not worthwhile. Does the car have a specific sentimental value?

    What instant gasket?

Hi all Going to be refitting all the bits back on my 200TDi, since my cambelt snapped on me last weekend. I have all the bits etc, just have not bought any instant gasket. Anyone recommend me any? I need it for the Timing Cover, Water Pump and Thermostat housing. Can I buy a universal instant...

Is it me or the motor???

Get a fuel filter, some oil and a filter and a new air filter. Give it a good service. Then drop the sedimentor and and clean it with paraffin.

Do i need late typr tensioner?

I'm new to all this too, but I believe the "late type" is a modified tensioner, with a "lip" on it, as the belt used to slip off the old type. Hence the "late type" just means, new and improved?? Don't take my word as gospel please. :D

Opinions on belt manufacturers - Dayco any good?

For what it's worth, I don't think it's a problem on all 200TDi's. Mine is on 167k and I think someone has left the same Idler pulley on since the 80k change done by LR. The pulley had worn away so much around the bolt that it was rocking all over the place. When the last belt was done, if...

Opinions on belt manufacturers - Dayco any good?

Water pump looks OK - strangely it looks like a recent change (only had Disco 2 months). Somebody has recently changed pump and belt, but left the idler, which is more like a cam! That's what caused the belt to snap as it was rubbing against the case. :(
