I used Britpart ones for the front seats on mine about a year ago and they have been fine. Came with a DVD telling you how to fit them - not too bad a job overall

Machine Mart sell it - probably not the cheapest but quick/easy to get if you live nearby so it worked for me

Recently fitted a Cobra immobiliser to mine. Cost about £40. Quite involved to fit but it's helped my peace of mind (and hopefully insurance). Still use a steering lock bar thing too though. No doubt someone who really knows what they're doing could bypass it but if they're that desparate then...

Job now done. The old tank was a B to get out and the front bracket was so rusted I'm surprised the tank hadn't ended up lying in the road. New tank was much easier to get in but I still scratched it in places so I'm pleased I didn't lavish too much effort on undersealing it first. Oh, and...

Just about to fit a new fuel tank for my 90. It's painted already, but before I fit it should I underseal the thing. I keep reading about how tight a fit they are and wonder if coating it in thick black stuff before it goes in is just going to make the job worse ?

Thanks. I can see how that would work but it sounds quite a big job. Is there anything I can do before thinking about separating the two boxes ? Is the shaft o-ring covered by the extension housing ?

Same old story I know.... I've been trying to fix a leak from my 90's transfer box. So far I've swapped the front output oil seal (which helped a bit) and the bottom cover gasket (which also helped a bit) but it still seems to be seeping out from somewhere. It seems to be coming from somewhere...

My 90 has done 177k and runs great (touch wood). Chassis/bulkhead and the other big bits are the things to worry about ahead of mileage

Is it possible to swap the steering lock and keep the same lock barrel and key ?

There's no evidence of anything having previously been broken, nothing catching, etc. It's just like it's never had one - which I find surprising. But if it's never had one I guess that solves my problem....:)

My 1991 200tdi has never had a working steering column lock while I've had it. Now I'm hearing that this might be an MoT failure. Anyone know if that's true for my age/model ? ...and if I need a new one will I have to change the ignition keys or can you just swap the lock barrel across to the...

I fitted a set from RJ Landrovers to my 1991 200tdi. Needed to spray them up first (didn't think orange would look too good on a blue Defender) - also need to make sure you get the right shims. Work great now they're on.
