    Freelander tailgate locked

It's back after a two year hiatus ....... Bizzare that it's almost two years to the day and the weather is identical. Just went through the original thread and thought I'd thank Hippo for those excellent photos of the stripped out rear of the FL . Weekend job .

    help after new VC installed

I believe that it's essential that the support bearings are fitted at 90 deg to the shaft when pressed on although I'm not certain how difficult it is to get that wrong as I wasn't present when mine were fitted. Is it a a brand new VCU or a recon unit , if recon who's ? Also are the bearings...

    Heater controls/ switchpack bulbs

I need to replace the bulbs that illuminate the heater controls . Rave suggests that the front & rear consoles ,radio + casing ,heater controls and switchpack have to be removed to accomplish this , is that right ? Seems a great deal of surgery to replace a couple of bulbs .

Freelander 1 track rod end-price-rip off?

Sounds like you've taken the Main Dealers or Independents to heart .;) I deliberatly suggested that Dave 1419 decides what is or is not value by merely pointing out the actual time and ease involved in changing a TRE on a FL. And sorry but nobody deserves to be ripped off . Not every one is...

Freelander 1 track rod end-price-rip off?

I had four wheel digital alignment ( properly ) carried out on the FL last Saturday for a cost of € 40 ( £33.31 ). Unfortunatley one of the two locking setscrews on the NS steering arm sheared which meant I had to remove the steering arm to free off and remove the sheared stud. It...

    Grinding noise from front brakes

I've just replaced the discs and pads on our FL. ( Early non vented discs ) The set removed made that grinding sound every time the brakes were applied for the two years they were on . The replacement ones don't and give off much less brake dust than the old ones. I put it down to materials...

    Condensation inside of windscreen

The cubby hole is dry as are carpets on ours but it still occurs too. I placed a silica gel type dehumidifier block in the boot that I got from Aldi and it has certainly improved the issue .

please help :-) misses cant get to work!

I'm afraid the symptoms sound very similar , except for the non starting , to the ones I had when i'd had to replace the fuel pump in our 1.8 petrol ( i'm assuming yours is a petrol too ,you don't say ). I had removed the pump and replaced the encapsulated fuel filter but after refitting the...

VCU - Where to purchase from?

Yeah, Called and spoke twice to his wife who said she'd get him to call me back but still heard nothing from him/them. Quite frankly it's a waste of time and money to remove and send it back to them from over here in SW Ireland I hold out no hope of a refund from them and don't want another VCU...

    Tyre choice

The 225/55/17 Yokohama Geolanders fitted to the Freelander are at the end of their life after 30 K miles and 5 years :(. I'd fit these again but cannot find a UK/Irish supplier so I'm off into the WWW to try and find a suitable replacement . For My wifes car which is used only on road and never...

    2WD or not to 2WD

Yup , I'm the same . Been running without prop for some 5 months now but ordered a new VCU yesterday to return it back to all wheel drive. It ran very well but would spin front tyres on anything except a dry level smooth surface. We live at the top of a gravel drive and it bogs down and spins...
