    Now I need help!

Hi, As the relay pulls in I would check for live feed to compressor clutch terminal. If o.k do a resistance check between clutch terminal and compressor body if clutch windings are good I would expect about 2-4 ohms. If windings are o.k then you could bring a temporary fused live to compressor...

    Freelander aerial issues

Hi, as well as good earthing for the coax screening (outer brading). It's vital that the aerial mast is insulated from earth, this is usually achieved using rubber or fibre washers.A simple check with an ohmmeter will prove this.

    Locked Out . . td4

The doorlock solenoid may need lubrication at the button linkages. Operate the console unlock switch whilst assisting the button to lift (using thin nosed pliers etc) hopefully this will allow the drivers door to open making the job of removing the door panel much easier.

    Alignment and Tracking Question

Hi, I understand from what you say that all four wheels have now been checked with digital alignment and adjustments carried out. If the tyres have been wearing inside or outside edges, this can sometimes cause slight pulling following realignment. One answer is to swap the wheels side to...

    TD4 (not) Power Assisted Steering

If the pump or rack were worn out I would expect the problem to occur constantly perhaps accompanied by noisy operation. Perhaps the fluid is contaminated with swarf or some other foreign matter which occasionally causes valve restrictions when pump pressure is low (low speed) perhaps the system...

    Rattle behind instrument cluster! aarrgghh

Sounds like something may have been disturbed during filter housing work e.g. there's a small bore metal tube runs up behind the engine from the transmission (breather) it may now be rattling against the bulkhead?

    De-cat pipe

 I hear that folks have been known to knock out the 'cat' internals (substrate block) thereby maintaining the external appearance of the 'cat' for MOT purposes whilst improving gas flow to the benefit of turbo response. Note:This only applies to diesel variants.

TD4 Freelander - White Smoke from Exhaust

Hi John, It's proper name is 'Crankcase depression limiting valve' and it sits just behind the injectors on top of the engine. You need to lift off the acoustic engine cover and then the air filter housing etc. But do a search on the forum as there's lots of good info on this subject. Haynes is...

TD4 Freelander - White Smoke from Exhaust

O.K. John I personally don't think the crankcase breather is the problem, but as some of the folks have reported improvements in situations like yours I thought you might check it out anyway and change it if it's clogged up, they can cause very expensive engine damage. So, back to the white...

TD4 Freelander - White Smoke from Exhaust

Hi John, The smell of diesel along with white smoke are classic symptoms of fuel leaving the cylinders unburnt. Whilst the vehicle is smoking is there any sign of the engine misfiring or losing power? Some folks have cured this type of problem by changing the crankcase breather filter...

2.5 GL- Randomly cuts out and wont start again until cold

Seems that LPG ecu is unable to recognise that the engine has stopped due to failed gas flow (possibly faulty gas solenoid valve) once engine has cooled the LPG ecu starts the engine on petrol until temp rises slightly and changeover occurs. LPG ecu's usually have onboard diagnostics. Because of...

    Front Tyre/ tracking issue

Assuming steering/suspension components aren't badly worn and tyre pressures are correct I think you could have a valid point. If the vehicle previously had full 4wheel alignment carried out any change to the front only may cause the vehicle to steer from the rear now.
