    swap PETROL V8 for diesel

Go and sit by the side of a busy main road, count the number of diesels you see go by, now compare that to the petrols, and how many of them are V8's? The public have voted, the V8 is a dinosaur!!!

    brakes binding - again

Is this on a RRC or p38? I had similar problems on my RRC 200 tdi, my solution was to buy a couple of piston kits from Fleabay, came complete with new pistons, new seals, ect, I even put new disc's on as well as they were so cheap. Piece of cake to do and gave stonking brakes, poped the old...

    swap PETROL V8 for diesel

Hmmm, fuel prices, speed cameras, residual values, ect would suggest otherwise. I'm afraid that the V8 is nothing more than expensive toy for most us us mere mortals, even our cousins on the other side of the Atlantic are beginning to see the light.:p

    swap PETROL V8 for diesel

Like most people, love the V8's, just can't afford to feed the feckers every day!!!:(

    White smoke

I would check your pump timing, when on TDC on the correct stroke there should be a little black dimple visible on the top of the pump sprocket (look down from the top with the chain guide rail out). The pump and cam turns once to the cranks twice, so you could be one revolution out! Did...

Off To Look At A Rr Classic

In a word, Rust! Sills, Bottoms of A and B posts, boot floor, rear inner wheel arches, floor seams and especialy the rear x-member, look closely around the body mounts. The chassis don't seem to rot too bad, though I've seen some go a bit crispy either side of the fuel tank and back, look...

Your very welcome, sorry I can't be of more help. Please let us know how you get on.

Does LPG cause early head failiure?

Also burning petrol (LRP) causes soft fluffy sooty bits (tiny amounts) which pass over the valve seats and surfaces and slightly cushion the valves when they close, stopping them beating themselves into the seats and wearing as much. This fluffy soot was caused by the lead in good old...

    No ABS nor Traction Control

Right, I'd change the diff then, it's a piece of cake to do and you can find a cheap replacement one on Fleabay easy enough. The bearings are at the end of the axle so it can't be them causing the noise if you say the noise is coming from the diff (in the centre of the axle) the diff has shims...

    No ABS nor Traction Control

It's hard to tell without hearing it, as it's seems to be fairly high pitched squeeling I'd be inclined to look at the brakes first. Can you get the front wheels off the ground and undo one end of the front prop, this will let you spin the wheels and listen a bit closer.

    No ABS nor Traction Control

What does the noise sound like? has it changed since you have had work done on it? The ABS light is more than likely caused by the sensor at the hub you had work done on, have a look to see if it's still connected first.

    De-Catting your Rangey?? Any Thoughts

I'm sure there used to be a group called 'put the cat out' or summat very similar, who sold a kit consisting of a length of pipe of the correct length and ends to replace the cat and a 'black box' to fit in place of the sensor. The above were not to be used at MOT time or around tree hugging...

    omega engine swap

My advise would be to sniff test it before you go the way of changing the head and or gasket, well worth it and it will make certain you have a combustion leak or not. There are loads of other reasons why these overheat (just look at the other threads in this forum) have you checked the...

    De-Catting your Rangey?? Any Thoughts

It isn't a cat on a 300 tdi, it's a smog filter, removing it helps by improving gas flow.

    omega engine swap

I'm in the process of changing my fooked dse lump for an Omega one myself, I think any differance will be in the ecu, the heads and cams are the same (as when was looking for a head for my RR I did a lot of checking) the inj pumps are the same the other anoying differances are sumps, oil...

    Anybody any idea ????

I would sniff test it without question, it's an extremely quick and very accurate way of testing for combustion leaks.

Hi Danny, Nice one! sounds like your engine problems are finaly over, lets hope you get some trouble free motoring at last! What exactly did they do to your engine? as they used your crank and block (is this the helicoiled one?) did they have your crank reground? new shells? new big end...
