Is £25 quid delivered any good to you? There will be quite a bit of mucking about to do. Basically you'll need to bin the cable operated hi-low mechanism and use the one of the D1. This will involve swapping the top over on the hi-low box, but as I say I removed every part off the donor car...

    Disco II diff lock

The ACE valve block looks a bit vulnerable, I suppose it depends how rough it gets. I've got rock scars everywhere on the underneath of my D1. By the way its only the 300Tdi's which have anti-roll bars. Yes but then you've got to have air suspension which is even more to go wrong. I would...

    lift kit Q

I couldn't agree more. Changing the tyres on my 200tdi made the biggest difference of anything. I've also fitted a +2" lift kit. I didn't need to change the shocker mountings but I did have to extend the brake hoses. Oh and I fitted dislocation cones too. Remove the tow bar or better still fit...

    150,000 miles too much??

Price sounds good at least, at sub 2k you could probably just about break it for spares for that. Saying that tho don't start overlooking big problems just because the car is cheap. The engine should be very sweet, if its got any significant rough spots then I'd walk away. Oh one thing check...

    1995 Disco Differentials

10 spines stopped being fitted early-ish 1994. Very late 200's and all 300's should be 24's. Unless the cars had a long history of abuse err I mean offroad;) Its highly unlikely someone would have fitted earlier, 10 spine units.

    200Tdi Discovery Exhaust clamp

It works ok with the proper clamp. Trouble is yours has had a universal clamp fitted (like I had to), and these are bulkier and don't grip as well. The rest of the exhaust has to be fitted correctly too, if its pulling too hard on the pipe that won't help. Try undoing the downpipe from middle...

    300tdi non abs disk change

the rear hub strips down very similar to the front, except you slide the halfshaft out. Be careful not to nick the inner axle oil seal (easier said . .) You'll need a new paper gasket but the hub inner seal should go again so long as your careful. I always keep a stock of gasket paper just in...

    200Tdi Discovery Exhaust clamp

Yes, although I wonder if its only the OE pipe which has the double skin arrangement? The big U clamp has been "added", the proper clamp is a more slender thing, the trouble with the clamp you've got (M10 thread, 17mm nut I bet) is there's not much clearance between it and the bulkhead. I did...

    disco 2??

Td5 disco is a really nice car. its a bit more "dumbed down" than the series 1 discos but is very capable offroad none the less. In standard form I think the ground clearance seems slightly less than on my old fella's stock 300tdi. Also the rear overhang is greater thus departure angle is...

    150,000 miles too much??

Looking at prices high miles does seem to affect the value of Td5's. Depends how the servicing has been done too. Manufacturer's 12k service intervals are sometimes driven more by sales requirements than engineering prudence. 12k miles of cold starts, short journeys on an old engine can be a...

    discovery 300tdi rear wheel bearing

There is a lip seal in the axle casing, this runs on a machined portion of the half shaft and keeps the axle oil in. You need to be careful not to damage this one when the half shaft is refitted. If your getting axle oil dripping out then its the seal inside the axle tube knackered, which then...

    Temperature Gauge

Hi I'm assuming your coolant level is ok. Also make sure your heater will blow warm, and that the radiator top hose is hot, after a run. The temperature gauge on the Td5 is driven by the engine management ECU. This takes a signal from a sender unit mounted on the engine, whose electrical...

    Running on Veggie

Just to throw a few facts into the equation (1) I was advised by one of the UK's most respected diesel injection specialists not to put veggie oil of any sort into a TD5. (2) The same place also stated that whilst in the short term the 200/300Tdi engines do run quite well on a veggy/diesel mix...

Disco I - ABS light on

Many thanks for that, I've just done a google and found the info. There's a lot to be said for these "old school" ECU's which can flash out the fault codes in this way.

    Disco II diff lock

Diff lock had the mechanism in up till early 2001 (My cars Feb 01 and still has the mechanism in the transfer box). It was deleted completely sometime around March/April 01 then but got reinstated later. You can connect up the linkage using Ashcrofts linkage kit (quite dear), or fit the linkage...
