    Heater plugs/glowplugs?!

They work to do the same thing but they are different. Yep, the ballast resistor is the coil looking thing. If I remember correctly, you can move all the wires (bar one) to one side of the ballast resistor and use it as a terminal. The 'bar one' wire will be from the glow plug light, this...

    Heater plugs/glowplugs?!

The glowplugs will work a lot better than the old style heater plugs. It's definitely a worthwhile upgrade. You should buy a set with the wiring kit as the wiring is different to the old style. i.e. as the other thread, the new glowplugs are not wired in line. If a heater plug fails, they...

LPG conversion on a series III

One of the cheapest ways to get LPG is to buy an old scrapper with LPG on ebay. Take the LPG off for yourself. Sell parts off the car and you'll probably make a profit with free LPG.

LPG conversion on a series III

You'll want single point LPG for your Landy. It may sound difficult but it's very easy to fit and install. It will make your Landy run hotter so can show up problems in what appeared to be a normal healthy engine but for a 2.25 even then I doubt you'd have problems. The Octane in LPG is on...

    Engine wont start

Yep, they're the new glow plugs. You need to bypass the ballast resistor, the new style i.e what was used in the defenders which you have, needs a constant 12v. As said before, the ballast resistor reduces the voltage down to about 6v. For a quick fix move the leads from the right to the left...

    Engine wont start

Get rid of the heater plugs you've got and get some glow plugs. The glow plugs work on 12v so you need to get rid of the ballast resistor. Get a solenoid and wire direct to battery so you get a good feed. With the glow plugs if one stops working the rest aren't effected unlike the old style...

    ex military landie help needed

Also normally have more blades on the fan. Double belts on the pulleys. Water pump casing, oil cooler and different sump. Front cover on the engine is different. And various electrical differences though not all the above apply to all military land rovers.

    Historic car tax.

Maybe it's a bad sweeping generalization but I have a lot of contact with the French and I haven't been particularly impressed! And it's now got to a point in this country where I can't say "I don't like the French" without being called a racist!? To me that seems to be a bit too politically...

    109 chassis, gearbox?????????

I think the gearbox is further back, and the bulkhead/tunnel is different. You may just need to cut a couple of holes?

    Historic car tax.

It would cost the government too much money to change the law back, never going to happen. Our government don't care what the people think. Now, I don't like the French but they have things right. If the people don't like something, everyone strikes.... and they then get what they want...

Brake Saga 2 (revenge of the Landy)

Before I read the others replies I was thinking the same thing, find an MOT tester who is sympathetic and understands older vehicles - especially landrovers! A landrover can fail on bits if compared to a modern vehicle when that was the way it was designed.
