    WANTED: Pierburgh Maf

Just fitted a pierburg MAF 7.22684.09.0 to my TD4. Will not rev at all totally flat when flooring the pedal, I ordered it because one of the threads stated that it would be a straight swap for the origonal Maf. Any ideas ?

    low revs no power

The putah tells us no logged faults, but did state that the MAF reading was 2/3 of what it expected. Wife took it shopping and said the performance was getting worse, so have refitted MAFAM and cranked the setting up to nearly maximum and is running better but not perfect. It would seem to...

    low revs no power

Changed back to the origonal MAF, still the same. Putting it on a putah to see if anything comes up.

    low revs no power

Running a cleaner through had crossed my mind, I will try it and refit the sensor I removed when I fitted the MAFAM, see what happens. Another thing I heard when i switched the ignition on was the fuel pump, shouldn't it cut out after a few seconds.

    low revs no power

Further to above - I have just had a longish run, the first since adjusting the MAFAM, the problem is reduced but still there. Pulling away from a standstill is far better, and acceleration is still good, but it is when it is cruising the hesitation starts, as soon as you put you foot down, even...

    low revs no power

No black smoke, and the maf sensor came with the MAFAM and was supposed to be more reliable than the standard one it replaced. The origonal problem turned out to be the fuel pump in the end, not the sensor, but I left the MAFAM on any way, if it gets worse I will try the origonal sensor again...

    low revs no power

Yes when no load or once the turbo comes in, no problem. I have improved matters by adjusting the MAFAM, which I fitted about 2 years ago, but is now outside Ron's recommended settings. Maybe it's time for a synergy.

    low revs no power

I have noticed a problem in the last few days with a lack of power at low revs on my 55 plate TD4. To start with, when pulling away, axcept when cold, it seems to need an excessive number of revs to pull away than you would expect, and it is not dragging brakes, just a lack of power. Even the...

    Freelander 2

I am considering the purchase of a Freelander 2, I already have a V plate TD and a 55 plate TD4, both diesel, and so am aware of their problems, my question is does the 2 have the same problems as the 1s, or is it totally different set of problems, as they do not seem to get mentioned on here to...

    Tyres/runners

I am very wary of used tyres, as previoiusly mentioned, you cannot be sure of how they have been treated on the previous vehicle. I was also informed that a lot of these tyres come off write offs. Makes even more sense to buy new.

    reconditioned IRD and VCU?

Just driven back from Swindon in our TD4, via Oxford, Buckingham and Milton keynes to Cambridge. Oxford a34 and m40 bit of a nightmare due to amount of traffic, m40 worse after our turn off for Buckingham, this road had not been touched by gritters, and it was just broken up packed snow...

    AA cautionary tale......

At one time, maybe not currently, these roadside saviours were encouraged to sell you componants that they had decided were at fault, I believe batteries were a favourite:rolleyes:

    no acceleration

Stealer Computer Its a Land Rover Main Dealers computer, nicknamed because of their prices. its worth paying the price as some non LR computers dont give all the codes.
  15. B

    knocking noise

I would take the prop shaft off to see if that stops the thumping, check the joints and the VCU. The service light sounds like it could be the hill descent light, see if it is switched on.
  16. B

    no acceleration

Get it to the Stealer Computer and get a fault code. I had similar problems and it was the fuel pump. Have a search on here for similar descriptions and see how they compare with yours, most end up as fuel pump failure.

Buying advice please - Freelander Diesel

Having both a 2.0di and a td4, I would advise you to try for the td4 for the almost car performance, the later the better, even if it means stretching the budget a bit. If you find that you have to go for the di, then check to see how many of the regular failure points have already been...

    Power steering pump

Has any one had this problem before with the power steering pump on FL1 2.0td. The drive on the back to the water pump lost its grip leading to overheating. Water pump turns easily so seizing of that not the cause.

Please help me decide on 05 Freelander

Six grand for a 1.8 does sound a tad high and would probably get a decent td4 for that price, I got a 55 plate td4 (not HSE) from a dealer( not LR) for the same money, with a warrenty. The ones you saw for £7.5g were probably from dealers with a warrenty. It does sound in good nick and maybe...

When it works it's good but from day one so many faults

    My v plate 2000 DI has a 6 cd changer/radio as standard, my 55 TD4 has a single cd player/radio - progress ?
