    Break down

If its covered by a warranty why worry, let them find the problem at their expense, and then let us know what it was,

Kwik Fit - Will I never learn?

I made the mistake of going to a Kwik Cr*p some years ago for some front tyres on a car, it was late on a Sunday morning and it was the only establishment I could find still open. Eventually car was on ramp and wheels removed and was told that the shockers were leaking and needed replacement. I...

    Best prices for parts?

I have just fitted a rear box that I got of ebay, about £50 delivered, I also got the three diff mountings, they might not be the best but they will do until I get a job. The last mid pipe and box were changed about 8 years ago, so lasted well!!

    rear diff bang

It slowly degenerates with more milage, or if you have a wife (like mine)that eases up the clutch and then drops it when she gets moving, just waiting for the newer TD4 to start doing it soon !!! My older one is a v plate TDi with 150,000 on the clock, the 55plate TD4 only (?) has 80.000 so...

    rear diff bang

Same as the guy towing, forward diff mount, got same problem on mine.

Clunking and banging - when towing

Having re-read your post, you get no noise when towing normally, only when useing the clutch and when going slow and you are accelerating or lifting off in the heavy traffic. Try doing an agressive pull away, with more revs than normal ( boy racer away from the lights style) and virtually drop...

Clunking and banging - when towing

First off I would check caravan tow hitch to make sure that is tight and the noise transmitted through the tow bar, then the tow ball hitch to see if you have any play between the ball and the hitch, how old is the van if its old enough it may have a 2 inch hitch or someone may have fitted...

Fuel Guage Reading when ignition is off

On my V plate TD the needle stays where it last indicated when ignition is turned off, on my 55 plate TD4 the needle drops to zero when switched off.

td4 misfire and smoke at 2000 rpm

I had loads of intermitant engine problems (55 plate TD4), rough running, lack of power and various warning lights, changed various bits and pieces, problem would go away for a while before returning, Finally changed the fuel pressure loom (less than an hour) and it has run normally ever since...

    Engine management light

You do not need to be 'competent' to change the loom, it is just removing a couple of pins from a plug and pushing the new ones in, they just click into place. A hole needs to be drilled in the side of the box for a grommet for the lead to pass through, a good way of telling if they have fitted...

    Engine management light

I had some cleaner from Maplins, it improved things for awhile, but the problems returned. Only cured, so far, by changing loom.

    Engine management light

If I remember correctly, when I bought the replacement loom for mine (last year), I seem to remember it was around £30. It took me less than a hour to fit . It is not upgraded,as such, it is just not corroded. I think that you should be checking and find out what they actually replaced !!

Engine Management System Light Coming On

I had numerous problems with my 55 plate TD4, cutting out, low power, enough lights to impress Blackpool. Checked electrical plugs, changed MAF, it would clear for a while and then return, but since I replaced the fuel rail plug from ECU loom, not had a problem. I would recomend that you change...

    TD4 2006 Cutting Out

I have just replaced the fuel pressure loom on my 55 plate TD4, due to erratic running, cutting out, lack of power, the lot. I had already tried cleaning plug and socket, worked for a while but symptoms soon returned especially in damp weather. So far it is running perfic,:).

Problem with 7.22684.09.0 Pierburg MAF (TD4)

I also have a pierburg as recommended by the poster, ordered from Germany, and has the same result, no power, very slow acceleration. I think the poster must have had a duff MAF which gave him the same effect as a disconnected one.

    low revs no power

At last appears to be cured, and it would seem to be the fuel pressure sensor plug. After I have removed it cleaned the contacts and then fitted and removed a few times, all appears to be back to normal, at the moment.:)

    low revs no power

Latest - just tries all three of the MAFs, the origonal, Rover Rons Peirburg and MAFAM(performing the best) and the so called straight Peirburg replacement, with various responses, non of them curing the problem and the engine management light with the question mark, the one on the right is now...

    Replacement driveshafts... any recommendations?

I got some uj's from Island 4x4 a few years ago, cannot remember what make, but £6 compared to stealers £40, No brainer decision.

    low revs no power

Oh no its not, today, good when starts and pulls away but rapidly turns into excrement  with an instument panel that looks like Blackpool illuminations

    low revs no power

Further news - fitted a new Peirburg MAF, supposedly a replacement for origonal, doesn't want to rev at all, connected mafam and set to mid position, lots better but not perfect, and performance not special all round. Disconnected air pipe from EGR, all performance reinstated, goes like a train...
