    Some buggers stolen me landy!!

You will find that the police that had collared the thief are as ****ed off as you, all the work that had been done by them is now wasted because the CPS are not prepared to prosecute as there is not 100% proof about the parts being yours. Your word against theirs is not enough in court with...

    Disc shields

Hello boys and girls, does any one know where to get a couple of front disc shields. The only place I have found stock so far is from the forum sponsor at a hefty £50 a side, for a pressed steel back plate, I don't think so !!!

    DMF replacement controversy

I had the pressure and clutch plate changed on my TD4 at around 70 thou. The DMF was checked visually and as there was no shudder problems it was decided not to replace. There has been no problems in the 15 thou miles it has done since then.

    No power

Maybe I missed it but have you changed the pressure sensor loom, that can cure a multitude of problems

    Clutch Engagement

I had the clutch changed on my td4 at around 70 thou, only slipped occasionally but it did not judder, only replaced friction and pressure plate, not the flywheel, worked perfectly so far.

    TD clutch

So that means you could only buy TD4's after 2000. I was sure I had seen TD's later than W reg.

    TD clutch

Hi all, I have been looking on fleabay at prices for a clutch and pressure plate set for my V plate TD. The sets advertised for the TD only go to 2000, I was sure the made the TD later than 2000, so is there a different clutch assembly after that time. Thanks in advance for any non biased...

    VCU Torque test results

Kin Ell, £35 to take a prop off, 15-20 minutes tops. I would do them all day for that price

    Temp Gauge Sudden Jump!!?

The fan is controlled by the ecu, if the temp gauge hits the red then the fan will run, regardless of engine temp, as happened on my TD4 when a wire got chafed and earthed out, it should also run for a few minutes after engine shut down.

    Gearbox woes ?

Hello guys and gals. Some help and advice required please, about reverse gear selection on my 2000(v) Freelander TD, 160000 miles. Although all the forward gears select ok, all to often reverse jumps out of gear as soon as the clutch starts to bite, but other times works ok. A quick read of the...

    Freelander 1 ird box

No, so that will be a home rebuild out of the question, how about just fitting a replacement bearing in the out put casting, or the replacement from ebay

    Freelander 1 ird box

I think the output (pinion) shaft bearing is making noise that sounds like an exhaust pipe against the chassis. I have seen one of these in the houseing on fleabay. Is it possible just to change that part without needing to set up clearances. I have also seen complete sets of bearings needed to...

    Lack of power getting worse

I know I can get a bit repetitive with my answers but with any problems to do with intermittent lack of power I would change the pressure sensor loom as a first cheap attempt at a cure. Less than a hour to fit and can solve a host of problems for £30.

    Knocking from rear offside

Ah, I am lucky as I have a mig welder, a stick might do it if you can turn it down enough and get the appropriate sticks. It might be worth getting a quote to see how much it would cost to have it done professionally. Shouldn't take more than a hour.

Ahhh, Limp mode on dual carriageway

For the price of around £30, change the fuel pressure sensor lead, my 55 plate TD4 had similar problems, and was intermittent, no problems at all since I changed it, cheap fix if it works.

    Knocking from rear offside

The mounting bolt goes through a tube that is only spot welded inside the chassis, and the weld is broken(very common) it cannot come apart but is rather annoying. What I did with mine was to jack up and take wheel off, cut open side of chassis so you can weld a couple of stitches on both ends...

    engine rebuild

Personally, I do not think you are mad, but I do think that you may be backing yourself into a corner worrying about the engine when there are other items that can cause more problems. If you read through the faults survey, the engine scored very low for failures, it is more likely to be...
