Thanks david - the bogus information makes sense as they go down at random ; but going down too often now , sometimes after half a mile or so . Will have a good look at ride height sensors - have had no problem with the air suspension since I got the Disco so maybe could hold on to the air.

Agree with andy - take off the belt , spin tensioner/alternator/water pump . You will have a good idea from this and it costs nothing . If tensioner is the problem source a bearing off ebay for a few euro/£. I think its often the rear bearing on the alternator that fails - the heat dries it...

I changed my clutch in 2001 Td5 last year and changed the spigot bush also - it's an interference fit in the end of the crankshaft . My old one was breaking up .
