    Snowy Trail ride in Alaska

Lolz, That was fort knox mine. We took the old mining trails on the back side. Its about 20 or 30 miles from my house. The trails aren't used very much anymore and are open to offroading, the mine is still pumping out the nuggets every once and a while though.

    Help me pick a project

:( the FC was sold.... I don't want to invest money or time into a lightweight. I'm gonna keep my eyes open for an 88 hard top though. That is my dream rover.

    Series rover mudding tips?

The previous owner saved them out of a salvage yard I believe. I've never seen anything like them. They are very knobby and very hard. They seem to be in good condition though, so I'm not worried about replacing them just yet. There is no manufacturer's recommended psi so I pumped them up enough...

    Snowy Trail ride in Alaska

We actually just took that rack off. It was useful for hauling stuff but it didn't look very good IMO. I didn't notice much leaning, but it was a fairly flat trail. I would assume my Center of Gravity is a bit lower now, I need to get out on a trail and see If I notice a difference.

    Series rover mudding tips?

Well I learned a lot about rope in this thread, but less about mud driving than I had hoped. My tires are a step above tractor tires, hard as a rock, I have a spare set of rims though and I might invest in some good ATRs. P.S I had the rover in low range, but I was only going 4 or 5 mph. I...

    Air Mass thing

Air Mass? Are we talking about an air filter? When is the last time you had regular maintenance done on your vehicle?

    Snowy Trail ride in Alaska

At the time we didn't have the engine tuned up quite right so so it could have been a power issue, I think more likely it was the fact that we had no weight in the back and we kept spinning out. In retrospect I would have tried to drive up it in a higher gear so the tires wouldn't have spun so...

    Series rover mudding tips?

I've gotten stuck before trying to cross a mud pit that was about 1.5 times as long as my 109. I just need to be able to get across the mud well enough to continue my trail rides, I don't go looking for mud. Should I invest in a decent winch? Are there tires that would do well in mud but be good...

    Wirng Diagram?

Big +1 Most of the wiring in my exmod is ****ed up. It works just fine but I need a multimeter and some good ideas about electrical circuits to figure things out. If anything use the diagram for a guide on how to redo the wiring the right way, not to figure out what its like in your car.

    Snowy Trail ride in Alaska

This was a ride done in Late September/Early October. It was a blast, my first trail ride ever. Jerry, the guy with the jeep, knows his stuff. His CJ5 is a nice rig, he keeps his cars in great condition (Mechanically) his other car is a porsche 944. He has helped me fix multiple problems with my...

    Our Series 2A project

Your wiring job looks nearly as good as mine! It was converted from the military 12 volt positive earth to 12 volt negative earth. Looks like it was a 6th grade physical science project, none of the wires were changed, they just moved them to different contacts and stuff... Black wires that are...

    I think it's dead...

Can you describe running rough? I just watched my land rover go from running rough, to backfiring like a machine gun, to not running, to purring like a kitten. It took nothing more than some electrical and fuel system adjustments. Over all less than 100 USD. I'm ready to believe that any rover...

    Help me pick a project

Any links on how to fix the gear linkage if it is seized? I would imagine that this one has been sitting for about 46 years. I've emailed the seller but he is not responding... Makes me a sad panda...

    Help me pick a project

Two cars available here in Alaska. Both of them could probably be purchased cheaper than the asking prices. I live in Fairbanks, but I could easily arrange for a car to be shipped from Anchorage. I have a friend who does auto body work and he would be a great resource for paint and rust. I know...

    Lubrication questions

Where are all the grease points on a 109 ex mod rover, and what oils go in each spot. I know that oil goes in the engine and that is about all I have ever changed. I don't know very much about cars but I'm ready to learn and I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty. Are there any good pictorials...

    Series Rover in AK

Hi guys, I drive a series IIa rover and I live in Alaska. Its great to have a really reliable car at -40 below zero! I've been trying to make this car run all summer to prepare it for the winters and I've been using this forum as a resource. I decided I might as well make a user. I've got an...

series iii 109 station wagon engine and box conversion advice

Was the engine just knocking? Or was it blowing smoke and stuff. My 2.25 was missing really bad earlier this summer and a new distributor cap, rotor, and wires made it run like new. I don't know much about the 6 cylinder engine though.
