If I can't disengage the hubs I put the thing in neutral and push it a few feet, then it seems to work fine. Is this the same "Wound Up" deal?

I think its super sexy, but it should be a completely new car. Why make something that looks so fast out of something so slow?

My land rover is in prime mechanical condition. But the interior is shot, I would love to re do the interior, but shipping is so damn expensive to Alaska...

Is that your rover in the picture? I've never seen a flatbed before. Shes a worker.

Looking good! Have you done anything about the wiring? The more attention my wiring gets the more things need replacing.. I just put it all back together and ignored the extra wires.

Well, I drive my rover about 3000 - 4000 miles a year, so I'm not really one to care about fuel economy. But yes... Fuel in Alaska is a bit cheaper considering I live right next to the Trans Alaska Pipeline.

I really hate to see people throwing out the old 2.25 gas engines. With an electric fuel pump, new carb, and electronic ignition. They are pretty darn reliable, easy to work on, and get you where you need to go. A diesel engine is going to give you loads more power, but eat up your drive train...

Is it making noises and stalling when you try to drive away? Try low range and 3rd gear.

Do you have the right bell housing?

Have you checked the timing and set the idle speed? If its dying at idle you have a carb problem.

I used bags of gravel to add weight in the bag of the truck. Since when has a rover weighed too little... :confused:

Braking is a problem. You just have to give yourself lots of room to stop. I've slid through a few intersections, I need some better snow tires.

I hit 55 mph all the time in 4wd. Alaskan roads offer lots of slippage to loosen up the running gear. If I had the car in 2wd I wouldn't make it into town and back.

Water in the fuel could be a problem. The choke is not working as well as I would like... I'm not sure whats up with it. I've got 10w40 oil in there right now, not quite as low as the 5w30 I run in the toyota or honda, but it should be fine for the winter.

Thanks for all the help guys, but you should really read some of the previous posts. I got the problem fixed already and it isn't anything you guys have been saying. I'm sure your information will come in handy at some point in my rovering career though.

6 foot 3 and lookin at a landy? I'm 5 11, 135 lbs, and I'm pretty damn cramped up in my series IIa. You might look for some new seats

Its a carb problem, not a starter problem. I'm usually suspicious of spark, not fuel, but this time I was wrong.

Thanks, I got her in my garage and built a nice fire in my barrel stove, should keep her warm enough. The snow is coming down, about 4 inches since this morning. My Honda would have been hard pressed to get out of the drive for sure.

@ Johnny, manual choke on the 34 ICH doesn't completely seal off the air. I think in this case the float was iced and it wasn't gettin fuel. A fleshy palm over the venturi solves that prolem. @ Mjltigger, maybe a momentary switch wired up next to the carb would be the way to go... or an...

I had my little sister give it a few cranks while I did the "Wear Someone elses gloves and put your hand over the carb venturi till the damn thing sucks some fuel" move. Started in no time. I don' know what ill do if I ever get stuck in this situation with no helper... I need to be able to crank...
