Update - t’was the alternator. Charge warning light now back also. Will keep the old one and replace the rectifier etc (£16 on flea bay). need to remember to make sure I have a red charge light on before starting the engine . thanks all

Just a shout out to let you know of a fab company that you can get all your oil seals and bearing from for half the price. Ive had a Fairly overdrive clutch bearing and recently 2 x Aero parts Capstan oil seals for £4.20 (Was £15 on another 'bespoke' landy spares website...

Happy Christmas all, My recent Christmas present from the Defender is a leaking adjustment bolt which sits on the top cover (Gemmer 6 bolt) and around the steering adjustment screw. Any ideas were i can get a new nut rather than the whole service kit for £20? Thanks in advance

Until you compression test you cant really tell. Can you feel / see pressure from the dipstick or oil filler cap when removed? Rich

Already done - water and all sorts came out. This is the second flush so nice and clean (but tinted with swivel grease). Rich

Thanks for the reply. As you say, I’m not to bothered about the mix of oils and grease, so may leave it until I can be bothered to take of the housing and replace.

Morning all, I think i know the answer but recently changed the axle oil (Def 90, G Reg) and when checking the other day its was nearly black again. I do have a slightly weeping front right swivel seal (swivels have 1 shot grease in) so i'm thinking the axle oil is getting into the swivel...
