Been doing other jobs distracting me from the car (that I was dreading) but here's the update. Milliput failed due to frosty weather not letting it set and lack of plusgas (for fear it would stop the Milliput sticking) so the Milliput popped off with a little force but no movement of the bolt...

As before, I'll pray it hasn't blended the Ally. I "think" the bolt has melted before the aluminium.

There is at the start but I can't see where he corrects the error to 23nm. Where in the video does he put the correction?

Yeah I've got one of those mini screwdriver drills & a screw extractor set, but like you say the room to get in is very tight. The extractor sets are double ended too which makes it longer. I could cut one un half and see if it'll fit 🤔

It takes 24h I think for the putty to set so I'll try tomorrow. I won't work but I just need to prove it to myself. I'll spray some penetrative oil on iif not then hopefully I can find someone to help weld a nut on it, Monday. Anyone near me in Ryton with a wielder?

I copied this guy. But you're right. I didn't use my common sense to question it: Go to 4:23 onwards.

8mm I believe. I'll order some new bolts. Do they have to a particular type to be torqued up?

Don't have a welder or welding skills unfortunately. There's a garage round the corner though. They might be able to get someone out. I'll give my milliput experiment a go and see what happens. I might get lucky...

⚠️ WARNING! ⚠️ The following material you are about to see may induce nausea and/or panic. Well it has for me anyway... Please tell me I had the right settings and I'm just a numpty for using the old bolts... I leave my torque wrench at zero after every use, too. It didn't click. I've mixed...

It was the "above each other..." caught me off guard. https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/gas-aga-question.387848/page-2#post-5572952 Is this the one?

I think its the 10mm Allen key from what I've read elsewhere on thr forum. The thread turned into a barney 😄. One guy stating the AC tensioner has "two holes above each other..."

Right, we're on. I've put copper slip on the sleeve thread, sleeve/elbow slot & cap to secure elbow joint. Nothings torqued up yet, though. Definitely must have been the tensioner itself as the new one gave way much easier with lots of movement. What size allen key do I need for the AC...

Well I had to cut a fair bit of the lip off the back of the old one to get the sleeve in the vice. The metal looks powdery where its snapped in places. Not sure if I'd want to put that back on even in an emergency.

Yeah, I would do but half the fluid has drained out of it now and the plastic washer has broken off it. I'm not sure if it was broken to begin with. The actual elbow wasn't seized onto the sleeve. It did rotate but the cap was seized. So all I can think of is it must have been the tensioner...

Right back again. Been a mixture of procrastination due to the weather but I finally got the cap off the tensioner sleeve... but as you probably know it wasn't easy. I actually ripped the vice mounting bolts through the table trying to get it off. Mind you the table was made of papier-mache! So...
