Freelander 1 Brake master cylinder.... I think

This thread is from 2017 and Ianmg hasn't been seen since 2020 so I'm afraid we'll probably never know.

Freelander 1 Rear Camber needs attention

The camber bolts arrived today and after 30 minutes or so the problem is sorted. :) I already had the car on axle stands and the strut bolts loosened so it was a simple task to fit the new bolt at max adjustment and after tightening everything I refitted the wheel and it is now almost identical...

    Freelander 1 Sump guard

Even one sheet of 4mm steel would be overkill as Freelanders are not that heavy. GRP would work but is brittle so I'd go for steel if ally isn't an option. Can you do a Google search for metal recycling or scrap metal places local to you. That is how I found the place that sold me the sheets...

freelander td4 problem removing clutch master cylinder

Isn't there a couple of plastic bits need squeezing either side as you pull it out? I think ideally you'd have pointy pliers where the tips are curved in to make it easy but you should be able to cobble something together. Maybe it's fuel lines I'm thinking of so if I'm wrong then it just needs...

Freelander 1 Rear Camber needs attention

The issue is only with one rear wheel and probably unsurprising after replacing the lower arms with aftermarket parts. The front axle is close to the standard weight so any issues there have nothing to do with the conversion. But yes I accept the excess weight in the back will have some effect. :)

Freelander 1 Rear Camber needs attention

I vaguely remember getting a set of camber bolts with the 50mm lift kit which IIRC were for the rears. Are there already camber bolts on the front? I can't remember but I tried loosening all the bolts bolts and there isn't enough movement to sort the problem so I've ordered some of Ebay. I found...

Freelander 1 Rear Camber needs attention

A lot of care and attention went into adapting that piece of wood I'll have you know. ;) It was pretty obvious when looking it it from the rear and moving it made no difference and if the wheel was buckled it would be very noticeable. I had to replace the lower arms a year or so ago because the...

Freelander 1 Rear Camber needs attention

I had a go at sorting my wheel alignment with string and as expected it's not perfect, so I plan to bring it to a tyre depot to do properly, but a while back I noticed the camber on a couple of wheels was a bit off. Today I put a spirit level on the wheels and found 2 a bit off and one rear a...

Freelander 1 Extended brake lines for lift kits??

Sorry I missed this post so will try to answer now. Brake lines were standard in my car, likewise ABS sensors. No idea about bump stops, I never checked. I think you're right about suspension travel but I found the car drove pretty much like a standard Freelander and the tyres will make more...

Freelander 1 Extended brake lines for lift kits??

I had a 50mm lift kit and standard hoses so this is not correct. This is the main reason why I tell everyone to avoid the 50mm lift kit. I guess it would be possible to have a piece of steel turned on a lathe that the TRE screws into one side and the other mimic's the shape of the TRE cone and...

Freelander 1 Extended brake lines for lift kits??

Can you explain what you mean by brutalising and what the stub shafts are for, where we can have them made and how much would they be.

What have you done to your Freelander today

That looks great but you could bring the cables for it up through the dash cup holders (the ones behind it). They're only held in by one screw and a couple of clips but once out there is a clear path down to the back of the radio. I did this for my phone and was able to refit the cup holders...

Mostly they were asking if I did it myself and how the motor was attached, was it still 4WD? That sort of thing.

When I told him it was converted to electric the look on the guys face was priceless. He opened the bonnet, called over the other testers and the questions started. It was a fun day. 🙂

It was just a bit of rust but if they don't like the paint then I'll have to replace it, but I'm Waaaaay to lazy to replace it unless it's about to fall apart. ;)

    Freelander 1 Freelander EV

I haven't posted here for a while but glad to say all still good with the car. MOT is tomorrow so wish me luck, this is a copy of a post I put in the main channel a few days ago. MOT is in a week so decided to have a look under and check for wheel movement. Jacked it up and found this Worse...

What have you done to your Freelander today

I believe car emissions are fudged by the manufacturers to get around emissions laws. When I had a company car I had a list sent out of the cars I could have and the tax I had to pay for them depended on their emissions. This changed frequently but the cars and their engines did not, yet a car...
