    Freelander 1 Freelander EV

This is a post I put on the OI forum and got a couple of pointers what to do. "Hi guys I'm joining this thread because I'm currently trying to figure out a way to automate charging when I plug in the charger cable and at the same time figure out how to start charging at 2am when my electricity...

    Freelander 1 Freelander EV

I mostly start off in 2nd and use it up to 30mph, third up to 50mph and 4th thereafter. But the switch is not the issue, like you said it would be relatively trivial to fit a switch to the clutch pedal and reinstate it. The bigger issue is the coding (programming) of the throttle for lift off...

Thanks mate, that's a wee job for the summer.

You guys are probably right and TBH I had considered reinstating the clutch for this but I don't think it would be worth the effort. I've been playing with the settings and it works great as it is, and you know the old saying? "Keep it simple STUPID" This is especially true where throttle...

    Freelander 1 td4 2006 clutch master cylinder.

I had a master fail when I tried to bleed it after replacing the clutch and heard somewhere it is not uncommon for that to happen so beware. Cheap aftermarket master cylinders can have a low bite point so if possible get an OEM one if you decide to change it.

freelander td4 problem removing clutch master cylinder

Nice one! I replaced a clutch in my TD4 a few years ago but when I went to bleed it I got nothing. Turns out it's not uncommon for the master to fail when a new clutch is installed so I fitted a new one and all good again. The only issue I had after was the bite point was on the floor, I put...

I agree that the term is massively over used. AI has been around for years in one form or another. Computers have been playing chess and other strategy games since the ZX80 came out and even earlier so that was a type of AI. But the difference now is it is so much better it's actually useful...

Yes I found the same with all of them. I know a little about programming and I can follow the logic even if I don't fully understand everything but as you say it did all the hard work for me so all I needed to do was tweak it a bit.

It is much better than you would expect. You can use ChatGPT or Claude or a couple of others, but I recently switched browser to Brave because it has adblock built in (Which works great in Youtube BTW) but it turns out the default search engine in Brave gives an AI answer to all searches. The...

    Freelander 1 Freelander EV

Last few days I've been playing with the VCU firmware trying to figure out if it was possible to have regen. It should hopefully help improve the range a bit but even more important it should take some pressure off the brakes. At the moment the brakes are great but probably over worked without...

What have you done to your Freelander today

With the correct glue that can stand hot sun. I had a couple of goes at gluing part of mine but I think the glue was rubbish because the one time we had sun over the summer it fell down again. Any suggestions where to get new cloth as mine could do with being replaced?

Hard to argue with this. The results are a little 1970's Cadillac looking but better than having the sodding thing drooping onto your head. I should have taken the headlining out of the old car before scrapping it but at that point I didn't realise the issue and I'm too lazy to do it...

If you want it fixed quick and aren't too worried about making it look factory or just need a temporary fix until you sort it properly then have a look at these. https://amzn.to/40IDeCA I used them in my car and the results were....... ahem... 'good enough' I thought I had photos but can't...

    Freelander 1 Sump guard

I was just thinking with the slots and rubber you may have a lovely musical wind instrument going on. Might be fun for a day or two but..... At least with 4mm steel it should be easy to drill and tap holes to secure whatever you decide to use. ;)

Freelander 1 Rapid tyre and brake wear

Park the car on a flat piece of road, stand in front of it and have a look at the angle (Camber) of the front wheels. If it looks like an F1 car then they probably need adjusting. As already mentioned if 2WD then assuming the rears are OK, only change the fronts but get a proper 4 wheel...

    Freelander 1 Sump guard

Without removing it no but less than 18kg. At a guess maybe between 5kg and 10kg I very much doubt you will notice the extra weight though, apart from every time you need to remove and refit it of course ;). Rubber matting may not play nice at 70mph. I was thinking of something like alloy from...

    Freelander 1 Sump guard

Sorry I thought you were saying you could get the weird one by giving them you're standard one. I forgot you already got it. If you already have the weird one then keep it and use it. Maybe put something thin and light over or under it so it still works as a splash guard.

Being a lazy sod I'd take the swap. If you decide down the line you don't like it for any reason then remove the steel and replace it with ally.
