That is the obvious fault, are you able to try a longer slave push rod? Depending on free play of course

You’re good if you can get mig to stick to rust !

New shells, oil pump , rings and hone the bores, it will run nicely

Mark the tyre before you remove from rim so you can place tube in exact position, it might pay to put a patch on inside of tyre

Does it need a new serpentine belt, as the old one is cracked and slipping ?

Was it a turbo pipe you disturbed by chance?

Timing one tooth out, or a dodgy injector

Gives the impression that brake shoes need adjustment, they are slackening off too much hence the soft pedal,

Removing and flushing your existing intercooler with petrol/ solvent/ diesel can also make a big difference, they do clog and suffer restriction after a. few years, just that process worked wonders on a 200 tdi I ran a few years back

What does it have by way of a rectifier ?

Does it have/need an “exciter” wire to start it charging like a standard alternator?

It could be old fuel, modern petrol goes stale very quickly these days, probably quite badly deteriorated after six months

Should have relocated the indicator switch… 😂

Personally I only flush engine if fluids have contaminated each other, as in head gasket , wet liner damage, oil cooler damage etc, otherwise with modern oil and regular servicing I don’t think it’s necessary. Just my opinion.
