    Part Number

That's the one with the BA screws also, I think. (A warning that, for some known reason, the screws on that port are different to every other screw on the vehical!)

...waiting for the next installment. I know it's sick, as, to the OP it's a whole load of stress, but, I'm still waiting for an update.

LED Full Beam - Very weird situation

Eg https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/394081005516 (I've not purchased that one, know nothing about it, etc etc but it shows what's possible for a tenner, ish)

LED Full Beam - Very weird situation

If you just want to get it sorted with a relatively low amount of bother, you can get the equivalent of those "boomslang" looms off eBay for about a tenner delivered. You could just grab one of them and use the current wiring to switch some local relays to run the lights. Seems like madness...

LED Full Beam - Very weird situation

In typical forum fashion, I'll admit to skipping the information where it was stated that the lights worked with the engine running. Most of my prior answer is nonsense then. The issue, therefore, is poor connectivity causing voltage drop. Anywhere from the fuse box, to the wiper stalk, to any...

LED Full Beam - Very weird situation

Similar to Phil's comment - If your connectors have long prior melted off and you are dealing with spade connectors only, be sure they are all in the right place. Mine got mixed up once and exhibited similar. Of course, swap the lights over too, just to make sure the fault doesn't follow the LED.

Help needed! Defender 200tdi juddered and now won’t start again

Fuel starvation normally manifests with lack of power and then the engine fizzling out. You can hold it on idle for a while and then it stalls. Sudden stoppage sounds much more like a timing issue to me.

Help needed! Defender 200tdi juddered and now won’t start again

The 200 has a manual arm on the lift pump, right? Crack off the banjo nut on the top of the fuel filter (or at the front of the injection pump, if that's easier) and pump the manual arm. It's possible to have it on a cam lobe, so the arm does nothing other than flap about, so, if it does that...

    Help needed

Does the chassis you have have a chassis number? If it does, I assume it's not going to match the v5. In which case you have two separate things - a 90 with no v5 and an 88 and with no physical parts. If, and I suspect this is unlikely, the chassis number does match the V5 that you have...

    Defender 110 running gear refurb.

I was chatting to a 300 disco ower the other day, whose build had factory abs. He was complaining about the discos control modules (which I think do the abs as well, right?) I just mention this out of caution. I think I'd rather do it from scratch rather than fit shifty old landrover parts...

Looking at a Defender 90 200TDi this weekend...

There's a reason someone put that red stuff on the side. And it wasn't just because they liked the look of the red stuff. I'm always astounded at the prices being asked. It's got no galvanized bulkhead. It's got no galvanized chassis. It's not some original collectors piece either. It's got...

Diagnosing black smoke under load on 300tdi?

I've got a stack of knackered turbos here, which is like to swap the carts on, but I've not found anyone on any of the forums who has actually successfully managed to. All the reports are that they (the replacement carts) either fail instantly or very soon after fitting. Sure, they're all...

Diagnosing black smoke under load on 300tdi?

If you can, fit a boost gauge to the "spare" / blanked port on the back of the inlet manifold. Assuming you're not burning oil (are you loosing oil) then it's a fuel air ratio issue. If you're not seeing enough air at the manifold when under load then that will be it. ...however The way the...

Rate this 110 by soon to be owner (hopefully)

Mot check online. Ignore everything other than emissions and corrosion. Much in the way of corrosion in the history and it doesn't really matter how shiny the paintwork is.

    Defender 110 running gear refurb.

Last time I had to get the a frame taper out, I used a metal stake (that is normally used for holding down concrete shuttering - maybe 20mm diameter?) and aligned it as best as I could with the bottom of the "bolt" and had at it with a lump hammer. I'm aware you can't get the best angle. It...

300tdi engine noise .. rattling or is it?

    Defender 110 running gear refurb.

Ps. I did not use the Ashcroft parts, I'm just linking to the text on their site. I used the britpart "HD" half shafts (about £120 each, ish, iirc) and terrafirma flanges. I hear bad things about terra firma, but plenty of people seem to use their flanges, and they were confirmed to work with...

    Defender 110 running gear refurb.

I probably shouldn't have mentioned the flanges, as it was the shafts that were the issue - I had done the "cheap fix" of the flanges the year before and it made a total of "zero" difference! : ) I understand that its normally the flanges that go before the shaft, but, i guess, someone...

    Defender 110 running gear refurb.

My 110 had a whole load of power take up clonk... It failed it's last MOT on the a frame ball. I changed that, and a while load of the slack was gone. The power take up had been bad for years and it only just failed on the ball, so it must have actually been bad for a long time, but the...
