    All the screws will have had some sort of anti tamper seal to see if they have been messed with, little blobs of paint on all the screws, sometimes thin twisted wire or even plastic caps, just trying to see if anyone has messed with the injection pump.

    They are all much the same, 200/300/td/puma, all are a bag of wnak, and can be hard work to drive as a daily, rural they are great machines, town work with traffic all over best avoided.

    Replace the black nylon pipe from fuel filter to inj pump with some clear pipe to see what is going on. Are all the seals paint/wire/plastic present on the inj pump?

    Pattern parts have always been poor, because we want cheap and they make us cheap. If you want to see expensive you want to see truck parts prices, scania aftermarket brake chamber 200 quid, genuine 2.5x that. Super single tyre for a truck 500, genuine DAF exhaust system 18k, 2 injectors fitted...

    Years ago I remember an old guy telling when he bought new oil he immdeiately decanted it into a 5 litre pouring jug, then put the old drained oil into the new shiny oil container and left it outside his garage, every time it would disappear overnight!

    I had already stuck 10 ltrs in there when he come and told me that the max was 5 litres, I then said well I have 4 cars and a boat so that is a total of 6 engines, he had a to think to breath then replied it is still 5 litres mate!

    You can get a tool off ebay quite cheaply that holds the injection pump drive sprocket in place whilst inj pump is removed.

    I read that they stroked the old 2.7 to make the 3.0, and this made the slightly dodgy crank even weaker. I can remember when the 3.0 was new and all the owners were saying sell your 2.7 as the new 3.0 as it is much better! I think the 3.0 in the RR makes around 300bhp?

    I think that is a 300tdi VE pump. O rings possibly the sme.

    If that is an A127 alternator, it is three screws and a few minutes to drop in a new brush pack, I think newer A127 on 300 motors are different.

    Depending on how you get on, it might pay you to break it, engine alone with ancilleries/rads is worth 1k, check out defender 200 tdi engine parts prices on ebay etc. Galv chassis must be worth the same. Daft things like roof lining are worth money.
