I’m a useless mechanic. I bought the tools, the parts latex gloves, plus gas, map torch and it cost me about £200. Admittedly they were really rusted in, watch the videos, listen to the tips on here and it’s a doddle.
I got my gleaming shot blasted and painted wheels back yesterday, £160 well spent. Now to look for rubber. Paddocks do

Brake update. Plenty of air in the system and the fluid was a caramel colour. All changed including a replacement Wabco abs sensor on the front left albeit a repurposed rear cable. I also rubbed down and resprayed the rear bumper.
Brakes flushed through and it needed it. Caramel coloured BF and some air. However, the ABS is still kicking in when braking. Attention has turned to a cheap aftermarket ABS sensor as the issue.
I removed the oil bath air filter yesterday to get better access to remove the engine harness. Anyway, I thought I’d shove it on the bench and have a look. I did notice a bit of residual oil on the cradle which I thought was odd. On taking it apart, no oil. Poured in some diesel and there is a...
I haven’t unravelled the tape yet (as I’m sick of being covered in oil) however, in essence yes. 4 big fat brown wires connect to starter, assume two of which loop to the alternator. In addition there are the engine temp, oil pressure and starter exciter wires. Plus a wire I cannot yet identify...
The starter motor plug is spliced in so likely not standard.

I removed the engine wiring harness today, well half an hour ago as the alternator and starter are on the bench. Well ffs besides being drenched in oil, there are wear through rub marks, chopped in butt joints and missing terminations.
