    Excessive black smoke

Being a TD4 you can almost guarantee the HP pump is leaking fuel into the engine.

Buying a Freelander 1 with propshaft removed

Cos we don't ave to as its 2WD. If it was in good nick, I'd have it. Especially if it was advertised as a 4WD. Cos I'd let them know I know it wasn't and therefore 1/2 the price as only 1/2 the wheels work.

Freelander 2 (LR2) Freelander 2 TD4 Manual Jumping out of gear on Motorway

Niether. But if she tries to force the situation, the wife needs to be told that it its the car or her that goes, the Freelander is staying put.

Freelander 2 (LR2) Freelander 2 TD4 Manual Jumping out of gear on Motorway

Don't be so harsh on her. I'm sure she is lovely other than her dislike of the car, so don't get rid to quickly.

    Freelander 1 Freelander EV

If you need a switch to indicate that you are changing gear rather than just coasting... maybe you could add a 3rd pedal  AI is just an exceedingly over used term because it is trendy. Nothing (yet) really is AI. Originally programs were written in machine code (0s and 1s), then...

    POWER STEERING GONE

I don't know, can you? Would be suicidal for an L Series, because you would have been lucky that it didn't get wrapped round the main pulley when it came off the 1st time and pushed the cambelt off. I know the TD4 has a chain, but don't know what else damage a snagged belt flying round the...

Or stuffed tensioner. That's what it would be on an L Series.

What have you done to your Freelander today

There are some fabulous threads on here where people have replaced their headlining - mainly in the Disco section I think. They generally say what cloth they used and from where.

What have you done to your Freelander today

I've seen how 'lazy' you are on your EV thread, and the suspension lift topic and many many other topics :D

What have you done to your Freelander today

I think I'd rather support the headlining with my head. Its the only good reason to have a sunroof in a Land Rover. You never want to open them, because they will break, or the rust will fall out and they will leak... but the trim holds the failing roof lining up in the front. As...

Freelander 2 (LR2) Whining noise won't go away after replacing the power steering pump and steering rack

If he was sure of the source of the noise... I wonder why replacing it didn't fix it. And why would he then replace something else that wasn't the source of the noise? I presume the F2 PAS pump is driven by a drive belt - has everything else that is turned by the belt been checked (including...

    Great! Boot stuck

I haven't checked on the F2 but I suspect it would not make a noise when the car is locked or unlocked as there is no mechanical device to open the door - ie a handle. Its a switch. So if the car is locked, it will simply ignore the switch. Make sure you have double unlocked the car. 1 press...

Freelander 1 Rapid tyre and brake wear

You don't. You could probably run 25" on the front and 35" on the back if you wanted. Might feck up the speedo, but the ABS & TC would still work, HDC might get confused because of the speedo issues. There wouldn't be any mechanical issues because the front is not connected to the back...

    Freelander 1 Wanted Servo (sjg000010)

Not the 1997-2000 cars, they have a different one. Only the 2000-2006 cars and the only options, other than 2nd hand, look to be genuine at typical LR (over) pricing.

Freelander 1 Rear Camber needs attention

Yeh, with IRS, looks like some lithium needs shifting to the back from the engine bay. Or chop the springs down a bit

Front passenger door on Freelander 2 won’t open

Can't help that much, but in most regions pressing the unlock button on the fob once will only unlock the drivers door. It needs to be pressed again to open the other doors.

    Auxiliary Battery

Dunno about a conventional battery, but I'm sure you could mount a lithium 12v. It would be a lot smaller, if more expensive. I presume a VSR works with lithium because of the slight voltage difference. I'd have thought it would but might need a DC DC converter. Your biggest problem might be...

    ird cooler pipes

When I was last looking the IRD coolers were much cheaper than that. I found it very difficult to get the old one off, but maybe I was doing it incorrectly. Yes, its plumbed in to the engine cooling system.
