Freelander 1 removing the rear axles

An AWD fully functional F1 is obviously the best way to use and enjoy the car. However, my F1 has been giving great service in 2WD for a decade and is still going strong. I have just removed drive in the IRD to the rear pinion, so I'm carrying everything that's original... except a gear. What...

I need your help, Freelander 1 not starting. Immobilizer?

That's an awesome pack you have there. Hope the fuse sorts the problems. Great call from @pscan.eu Please accept my appologies for saying this is a great thread... as its causing you grief.... But its part of what makes LZ so great and I keep coming back.... you 'meet' all sorts of people...

I need your help, Freelander 1 not starting. Immobilizer?

When my L Series started strange misbehaving starts it was due to electrical spikes. I disconnected the battey for 20 minutes to let the ecus clear and reset themselves. It was fine after that. Good luck.

    Freelander 1 Еrror p0705

I don't know anything about your problem, I don't know how the auto box works, but you say "there is no power to the inhibitor". Looking at the circuit diagram, the "INHIBIT" within the 'SELECTOR" looks to get power from fuse F35 in the passenger compartment fuse box. This gets its power from...

    Freelander2 TD4 battery

Agreed. We have (relatively) big panels on our campers (340w) and they kick out quite a lot of power when the conditions are right and although we replace the house batteries every 3 years, the starters that they also charge last double that. The controllers stop the batteries being cooked.

That must be all those years playing in the front row for Scotland ;) 1 of our mates is an ex professional rugby player, huge bloke, but walking on artificial joints these days. I'm doing fine. Keeping in good health, but still grumpy mind :D Hope you've still got the Freelander. Getting...

    Ignition locked

If you insert the key and wiggle the steering wheel as you turn it, I'm sure the key and steering wheel will turn. That's the way steering locks on that and previous generations of cars have worked. The immobiliser does not stop the key or steering turning. It's pure electronics, so if you...

    Ignition locked

If you put the key in the ignition you can release the steering. Yes it has an immobiliser, the key needs to be in the ignition - but the immobilier doesn't lock the steering - it will just stop the engine cranking or starting and a LED will illuminate on the dash.

Freelander 1 L Series Diesel Parts Question ?

There are lots of threads on here about the 'center engine mount'. Its a tie bar that bolts between the subframe and the IRD bracket which itself is bolted to the engine. There are a couple of types (IIRC rounded and hexagonal ends being the most notable difference). There is also chat about...

    MK1 Freelander lost keys

I agree the immobiliser chip is in the key not fob. So maybe they expect you to have the original key rather than getting 1 cut or replacement key and barrel. However, it does say... If you cannot start your Freelander this replacement key fob and programmer will still work. If your...

    Best Engine

I agree, the TD4 is a great all rounder. The feeling I get is that the I6 would be expensive to run and parts, the I4 would be better being a Ford engine but don't think they were available in UK and would only be at the tail end of your year range.

    MK1 Freelander lost keys

I think you will have to get a key and remote from a LR garage who can program it. Failing that you are going to need to get all sorts of bits from a breakers. Which bits depends on the year. Mine has the immobiliser chip in the fob, not the key. They started putting the chips in the keys...
