Thank you for your replies. First I tried depressing the yellow Four Wheel Drive selector on its own. That didn't work so I disengaged it by selecting low and then high range (low towards me and high away from me). I then selected low range which should automatically select four wheel drive...

Hi everyone - pleased to join your forum. Bristol was dumped on from a great height yesterday....3 inches at least ! My newly acquired Series 3 SWB was all ready for action only to be the only car that I could not get up the drive! Rear nearside wheel spinning only ! Probably stuck...
