    glazing seal for windscreen

You don’t need anything sticky on the inside between the glass and trim. The original part used - a thin rubber filler strip - is still available. Part number: 78159. pa blanchards have it.

300 Tdi engine swap story - and a few questions

Having fitted screens in Cortina, Escort, Fiestas, Jensen, Landies and kit cars, the fitting of a Fiesta one that I kept for a few years rotted severely and this was the last time I used washing up liquid. The Jensen I kept for probably 30 years and this never had corrosion around the screen...

300 Tdi engine swap story - and a few questions

Never use washing up liquid to fit windscreen seals. it has salt in it to soften the water to give more bubbles. salt will corrode the frame behind the rubber. so, don’t use it! my best suggestion is on a warm day use something like lanoguard or waxoyl. both say they don’t rot rubber. or you...

    Defender Maximum Ride Height Question

You could get one of these: note the bump in the roof - that is the emergency exit. these can wade to half way up the windscreen. But remember, after these wade they get a full hose down and new oils/fluids in everything. also if they have ever been taken apart they will need resealing properly.

    Steel wheels offset

If you were considering buying something to see what it looked like, your best bet would be to get some 30mm spacers. You could put these on to see what you think. Possible get a full set of 4 spacers and once you have sorted everything, sell the spacers. Cheap set of 4 spacers are £120. There...

Is it a standard fit wheel? What offset do your wheels have? They could well be zero offset already.

    Steel wheels offset

With no mention of width you cannot say how much difference the offset makes: standard old steel wheels were 5.5 inches, 33mm offset. if you want to keep the same steering lock when you fit 1 inch wider rims - guess what - the inside edge needs to stay where it was! so, the centreline of the...

    series chassis?

So, it looks like we all agree, if you modify a chassis to fit coils instead of leaf springs the correct route would end up with type approval and a Q plate!

    series chassis?

There are plenty of things you can do - but the legality and resale can be very questionable. If you choose to ignore the rules that are specific about altering a chassis - then I, and many law abiding people with a conscious will not touch the result when you choose to sell it on. devalue a...

    series chassis?

You often see them for sale as complete vehicles on ebay. But really they should be on Q plates as they have had a major component change that isn’t allowed - unless of course it was 30 plus years ago. Q plate and type approval is the correct route, if a chassis is modified or replaced with a...

Any solutions for water in the pick up bed?

I parked the front of mine on a couple of breeze blocks, when I didn’t have the back covered. They were about 4 inches thick, and I put a bit of 2” thick wood in front of that as a bit of a ramp.

looking for who modified my Defender

My thoughts are this is a 130, maybe or maybe not of military origin. This has then had a pulse body put on the back. This has had the camper conversion before or after the rear was installed. This was not a pulse ambulance from the outset. Unless it has had a front end replacement. So, I would...
