Unless of course it's an early one, you know the one's that weren't stuffed full of 'lecktronics & (in certain cases) could be mistaken for a London cab at first glance or have a propensity for slipping V8 liners. No offence guys ;)

This conversion has always puzzled me .. the advantages of a disc set-up vs drum are well understood, but why would you want them for what is essentially a parking brake?

Carbs or EFI, the latter introduced in Oct. '85 but SU's could still be specified. If it's original it will be a flapper at that age.

I've experienced liner movement on my own 3.9 years ago & also on a friend's RV8. Playing the sound I have to say the timing of the noise does sound like it's in time with the engine's RPM but the sound itself is different to any liner I've heard .. more hollow, for want of a better word...

Yes they are a lovely old thing especially in V8 form .. full of character & reliable if maintained properly. Neither of which attribute can be applied to today's showroom queens.

LR slipped up there :rolleyes: But then my 37 year old classic is still free of any serious corrosion & has parked in the open for the past 16 years. The secret is spending money on rust prevention treatment, rather than accessories.

Corrosion has been synonymous with Land Rover products for decades, in many cases at a much earlier age than yours. Some things never change.

Sorry to p... on your bonfire (no pun intended) but latter day research has concluded that Viking ships used for funeral pyres where in fact burned ashore, not floated out towards Valhalla as Hollywood would have us believe .. in which case your P38 will still be going off-road ;)
