    Classic VM Injection pump removal

Did well to squeeze a straight 6 in there, did they 'modify' the bulkhead? With R&D money being short I would have thought Rover would have at least experimented with the later version of the P5 engine which was producing as much power/torque as the Buick lump, although it was a heavy unit so...

Main Dealer or Independent (still under warranty)

I found the above posts interesting & will add my own experience(s) On the subject of subbing out; back in 2000 I met such a contractor who was attending to P38 4.6 V8's at a time when LR main stealers were still dealing with warranty claims, for what turned out to be a slipped liner, as a...

    Air to Springs

Unless of course it's an early one, you know the one's that weren't stuffed full of 'lecktronics & (in certain cases) could be mistaken for a London cab at first glance or have a propensity for slipping V8 liners. No offence guys ;)

    Handbrake differences

This conversion has always puzzled me .. the advantages of a disc set-up vs drum are well understood, but why would you want them for what is essentially a parking brake?

    Rimmer Brothers

+ 1 for Rimmers service. Be aware though that genuine Classic ignition components appear to be extinct wherever you shop, even though the old Lucas branded boxes are still about the country of origin is either Turkey (not the new spelling) or China. Last year I rejected a dizzy cap & a rotor...

86 Range Rover Classic Poor idle

Carbs or EFI, the latter introduced in Oct. '85 but SU's could still be specified. If it's original it will be a flapper at that age.

    P38A P38 rattle at idle

I've experienced liner movement on my own 3.9 years ago & also on a friend's RV8. Playing the sound I have to say the timing of the noise does sound like it's in time with the engine's RPM but the sound itself is different to any liner I've heard .. more hollow, for want of a better word...

    New l405 headlights

Like many older drivers I hate today's brilliant headlights, to the point that I try sticking to well lit roads on the few occasions that a night journey is essential. My eyes are tested annually & meet DVLA requirements. What I don't understand is why these lights need to be so bright, given...

    L322 Rusty Sills (2006 L322) Repair Yorkshire

Yes they are a lovely old thing especially in V8 form .. full of character & reliable if maintained properly. Neither of which attribute can be applied to today's showroom queens.

LR slipped up there  But then my 37 year old classic is still free of any serious corrosion & has parked in the open for the past 16 years. The secret is spending money on rust prevention treatment, rather than accessories.

Corrosion has been synonymous with Land Rover products for decades, in many cases at a much earlier age than yours. Some things never change.

    P38A Ignore this.

Sorry to p... on your bonfire (no pun intended) but latter day research has concluded that Viking ships used for funeral pyres where in fact burned ashore, not floated out towards Valhalla as Hollywood would have us believe .. in which case your P38 will still be going off-road ;)

range rover classic 3.9 EFI runs poor and heats up very fast with code 14

My 3.5efi doesn't have the facility for code reading, but I changed what I assume is the ECU temp sensor last year & for the first time in 15 years ownership the exhaust tail-pipes are now grey after a run , rather than black  The sensor was in a Lucas branded box .. made in China, but...
