    2.25 petrol rough idle

An interested thread found here by my brother... (he too can't get any sleep wondering why a cam would have a 180 out key) https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/valve-cam-timing-petrol-2-25-am-i-over-thinking-this.369908/page-2

    Tow Rope/cable

I too am certainly no towing expert and I don't want to be either, so I'll leave the correct answer to them and explain what I think. For recovering my own vehicle when it broke down (wiring issues fixed now), I went out and brought 2 of the jate rings, see pic. There are locations on the...

    2.25 petrol rough idle

so, I've moved the chain one tooth round so the line is at least dead on...even though it's 180° out. Next step will be to pull the cam shaft but before that, I'm putting it back together this weekend and testing it. If it's solved the rough running then great, if not, then it's time to take...

Yep, did the piston up thing. Definately cam shaft 180 out. But maybe it's only a tooth out and an odd cam. Book reference a dual keyway sometimes, but this has one. I'm going with the 1 tooth out and I'm not going to install it as per book, it'll be 180 out

With #4 rocking and #1closed, piston at top and the cam cog mark is dead aligned to the reference stud hole, (albeit 180 out), pop the cover back on to ref the TDC and i get this. I think the chain is a tooth or 2 out and i should ignore the 180 thing

    #4 are rocking,#1 fully closed

Ok, as usual, timing cover off shows a completely different scenario to what I thought. At first, I think the cam cog is 180 out, secondly, it looks also a tooth out of 180 too. I'm gonna have a think about it over lunch before changing anything. The marker on the cam should align with the top...

    Rear slide window inserts

I have the felt, will attempt it on Saturday, I'll report back when I've done it. Need to check timing chain first, but that's on another thread of mine. I may fit the felt to relax after banging my head about the rough running issue.

yep, I sense that too. I'll get to level 3 swearing. Level 1; general self abuse. 'you stupid C$%T' etc Level 2: French blame. 'was this designed by the french or something' Level 3; Holy. 'jesus christ mother mary' Level 4; Crying.

OK, so you fold the felt over within the channel and the return features hold it in. Maybe I'll get some then, at first I thought it would have been like the one at the bottom.

    Rear slide window inserts

I have found these... https://www.johncraddockltd.co.uk/czl000020-felt-for-sliding-window-glass.html But not too sure if this is the right thing.

    Rear slide window inserts

Ah, that's interesting. I assumed it would be hard plastic like the one at the bottom. In that case, the usual web sites sell a roll of felt that apparently does this but I'm just not sure how it would stay up there.

    Rear slide window inserts

I have a 1985 90 county with 2 rear sideways sliding windows. When closed they rattle like the change in a stressed engineers pocket. Seems the hard plastic insert that fits all along the length of the window is missing from the top only. Bottom one is there... Sort of, but the top one is not...

P38A EV Conversion / Hybrid conversion - Pie in the sky thinking

yep, another EV conversion. There's 100s of them. But hybrid is a different in many ways. firstly, you keep the engine and can drive all day (these days), as you can pop into a petrol station. With the addition of doing short journeys using EV, it's not about power either, a lot of these full...

Yes, this will be unsprung mass, but for my use, it would be acceptable. Their web site has an example LR running them, it's not ideal but might be a way round fitting motors elsewhere.

P38A EV Conversion / Hybrid conversion - Pie in the sky thinking

This has got my attention. I've been driving EVs for over 10 years now to commute, have an electric motorbike too...all these alongside my petrol classics and petrol big motorbike for proper touring. But, it's got me thinking about hybrid for my 1985 petrol 90. I'd hate to lose the motor but...

https://photos.app.goo.gl/7RZH9LG9RM4sPHRH7 Here's a link to a video, before you slate me... Yes, I'll put the tappets back. I set them cold and now I have a sewing machine effect, that I'll put back but this video shows the drop in revs, even when revving.
