Looking at a Defender 90 200TDi this weekend...

You seem to know what you’re talking about and what to look for. I have to agree with a couple of the others and suggest that the asking price is too much. The market has definitely cooled down. It’s a 35 year-old Landy that’s been gentrified to make it more modern-looking, so you’re neither...

    Tail light mystery

I’ve got the same setup and it works fine with no special modifications needed. As Dippy has said, check and clean all earth points, replace screws/nuts/cable if necessary.

Hydro-****ed - what happens when you drive through the Spey in spate

The push rod + valve is weaker than the con rod, in a non-interference engine they will give up first.

Hydro-****ed - what happens when you drive through the Spey in spate

Indeed, I can’t see the con-rods going before the valves (non-interference) and push-rods. Pistons should be alright too.

    Landrover insurance

The benefit of an older Landy is you won’t be breaking many speed limits!

    Continued indicator electrickery woes

Glad it’s sorted, told ya to check the side repeaters 😛

    Continued indicator electrickery woes

Just need the one relay, it should be behind the main fuse board. It might be correct, definitely worth noting what’s there though. It’s strange how its worked fine all these years - but that’s Land Rover electrics for you! Remember, you ought to have the indicator tell-tale lamp working for MoT...

    Continued indicator electrickery woes

You may still need an led-specific relay, I think the ‘plug-and-play’ just means the wiring plugs are fitted for you. I could be completely wrong though!

    Indicator “Warning” Light Not Working

Why aren’t the choke (serves as glow plug light on diesels) and diff lock lights used?

    Indicator “Warning” Light Not Working

Is the bulb-holder missing too? There might be an unused one on the light board, although Land Rover were a bit frugal and usually didn’t put any “spares” in!

    Indicator “Warning” Light Not Working

Plug those green wires in and see what happens. You may find that the indicators stop working if you do. Let us know the outcome!

    Wiring Quiz 😂

They should be plugged into the indicator 🔛 bulb on the dash light board.

    Continued indicator electrickery woes

Can’t remember if you have or not, but have you measured what voltage you were getting at the indicators when they were on?

Do they work properly with the l/h indicator switch engaged?

Bolt Part Number - Holds Gear Shifter

The bolt (set screw) is just an M6x16mm bolt (set screw). Aftermarket offerings are predominantly flanged bolts (set screws!), but the original set-up had the thick washer. Doesn’t matter either way.

Bolt Part Number - Holds Gear Shifter

Ah right, the bolt is : FS106161L and the washer is : FRC886

Bolt Part Number - Holds Gear Shifter

    I’ll guess it’s not a special bolt, is it off a Td5?

Have you inspected the l/h side-repeater? Was this also changed to led?

Fuse blowing - fuel gauge, temp gauge, indicators (not hazards) full beam (not flashing)

Worth checking the side repeater too, they’re prone to internal corrosion.
