    Radiator change. 12j to Td5

Just get some "Barrs Leaks" or similar from any motor factors shop. Likely there is something like it in the US It is just pour into radiator and the stuff stops the leek, keeps you going. Ok to use with antifreeze.

Series 3 Rebuild Series 3 Suffix B gearbox as Suffix D

Does not look right to me, sitting at an angle to hinge point and the flap its self is sitting too flat and will make engagement difficult. It should sit up at about 25 degrees.

Crankcase breather is usually on the outlet pipe of air cleaner. What sort of filter unit do you have?

Near side front wheel showing oil

Adding to the above, could be the hub seal, the one you see behind the disc when hub/disc removed. Also be worth a check that the axle breather pipe is clear.

    The perennial brake problems

It is a sad fact that the whole car spares business is awash with poor quality parts and also even worse fake items in box's of known maker. The Government trading standards is just swamped with all the crap, and it is not just car stuff, coming up to Christmas it's kid's toy's and some of it...

And if some one has fitted a towing socket or anything else with those Devils invention "scotchlok" connecters get rid and fit decent crimp or even chock block connectors

    Oil leak 200 tdi.

Does not look like a fault, more of a drilling. Likely was there before you took engine apart. Would be nice to know what it's there for though.

Is it worth swapping out my worn 2.25 D for a 2.5 D

Mine did as well, and the first gear lost its teeth, and the little bearing at the back of the lay collapsed. I learned a fair bit about gear box's from that one.:)

    Defender 90/110 Rear Brakes

It's swings and roundabouts, drums need manual adjustment and changing shoes more of a faff than putting pads in calipers but those calipers are prone to sticking pistons due to corrosion. Anyway you are more likely to find an all disc brake truck as only the first 8 years for Swb or 9 years...

Is it worth swapping out my worn 2.25 D for a 2.5 D

It would have been on the limit for a series box, more so if a 2/2a box. There has for many years a belief that the late 2a box is the strongest. This is not so the series 3 box with its one piece layshaft is the strongest. That is not to say it does not have issues but in good order and treated...

Is it worth swapping out my worn 2.25 D for a 2.5 D

The older Land rover diesels are indirect injection, fuel is injected into a precombustion chamber, flame then travels through a hole into the head/piston chamber. This results a less harsh detonation [ NOISE ] Tdi's have direct injection straight into the head space and you get more of the...

    Oil leak 200 tdi.

First thing, that is the rear main bearing cap I guess? Did you fit a new gasket between block and flywheel housing? They come with new sealer pre applied in the right places. Did you use an Original Dowty type crank seal. These have to be fitted dry [no oil] using the guide cone provided?
