But he also invented the ZX81, with its whole 16k of extended ram. Fond memories as a kid…

Freelander 2 (LR2) Freelander 2 brake grommet part number?

Do you mean the little plastic cap that fits over the handbrake adjuster access hole? HP1 in this picture…

Freelander 2 (LR2) Whining noise won't go away after replacing the power steering pump and steering rack

Are you sure it’s the power steering causing the whine, after all that work? And was the power steering fluid bottle changed?

What have you done to your Freelander today

A nice easy job yesterday - after the handbrake getting stuck on the other week, I needed to adjust it as it wasn’t quite holding on hills. I think the cable possibly stretched slightly when trying to free it under power. The F1 is due its 6-monthly service, so daughter bringing it down in the...

    Stuck thermostat inline mod

IIRC, the only difference for a TD4 auto vs a manual is the inline mod is placed in a slightly different position on the hoses. The stat is the same.

    Freelander 2 (LR2) B100A -15 fault code?

FL2’s need a ‘good’ battery - they use them heavily and are known to create all sorts of issues if you don’t have a healthy one fitted. You’ll probably get 3 or 4 years max from a battery on an FL2 - and that’s if it is a good brand. I fitted a Yuasa battery to mine a few months back - good...

    Stuck thermostat inline mod

No hole in mine. Runs sweet and does what it needs to do.

    Stuck thermostat inline mod

Most leave in situ due to the awkwardness of getting to it on a TD4, hence doing the mod work-around. If you are going to the trouble to get to it to remove it, then just replace it anyway.

    Stuck thermostat inline mod

On the TD4, if it’s all working correctly you would see an obvious change once you did the mod… The old stat (that generally fails ‘open’) will only allow the engine to get to around 1/4 on the temp gauge. The mod inline stat, you should see the temp gauge get to around 1/2.

What have you done to your Freelander today

I'd have to put the seats down in mine to fit it in the back, and even then I'm not sure the tailgate would close. I guess I could tie it down

First time Defender owner...(Well joint owner with my son)!

Very nice. That is exactly the sort I'd go for - if I was to get one

    Dying F1 Help

... nor 'using' any? (You are not topping it up at all?) Because if not, perhaps it's your 'lack of power' that is causing all the problems, including an engine getting warmer. Can you get a diag plugged in to it and check for codes?

    Dying F1 Help

You still haven't told us if it is 'losing' coolant... have you actually had to top-up the coolant level? So, easiest first for your 'engine getting hot but not overheating' question; Is it losing/using coolant (i.e. do you have to top it up?) If I were you, I'd get the codes read with a...

    Worth new clutch

Yes! If the engine has been looked after, then it’s most definitely worth saving. 100k miles is nothing. My FL1 is now my daughter’s daily driver - that has 150k on it and runs sweet. Try not to think of how much the whole car is ‘worth’ in £££. (Most) cars depreciate. With a broken clutch...

    Dying F1 Help

The fact that the engine is getting ‘warmer’ does not necessarily mean you have a fault on the coolant side. You could be simply driving it harder due to your lack of power. Is it actually losing coolant? Not necessarily a puddle underneath, but does the header tank require topping up after a run?

Spares. Can i sell on this forum?

Don’t worry - the tratterers are just jealous ‘cos they dunt have things like air-con, and windows that work. And they get grumpy ‘cos they dunt have comfy seats. You post the linky 👍
