Freelander 1 Hill descent not working

If you change gear, then HDC will reactive and flash green. If a manual, I think it deactives when you depress the clutch too. The idea is ‘feet off’ controlled hill decent in slippy conditions - think off-road/mud/snow.

Freelander 1 Hill descent not working

Ok - try selecting first gear, the HDC light should then turn solid green, meaning it is active and working. Better still, if you have a steep hill, then try it out! Start descending slowly in first gear, then take your feet off all pedals, HDC should control the decent at about 5mph. It also...

Freelander 1 Hill descent not working

Flashing HDC means you have the button selected but it is not active. In normal operation, this means you are not in first or reverse gear (the only gears HDC works).

    Were we unlucky?!

Yep - they are known to have issues with the rear subframes rotting on older models sadly. Looked after engines are good for 250+ miles. Luckily, you can buy brand new subframes yourself easily, as @Arctic2 mentions. They are not too difficult to fit yourself, if you have a little bit of...

What have you done to your Freelander today

When I first got my old F1, I took it to the guys in the video to have a new VCU fitted, along with new bearings. It's a long trip to their base in Suffolk from Kent, but worth it. They did the job while I waited in their office (with lots of coffee!) Sue and Nobert are a top team for F1 and F2...

I believe they are different inside. Look on the website @Arctic2 linked to - that site shows how to identify the different Haldex generations. Have a read here… https://www.freel2.com/forum/post198507.html

    HDC & 1 Amigo

I think (you need to check further) that your 2010 has a Haldex gen 4, and your 2007 will be a gen 3. Not sure they are interchangeable.

    Intro.

It’s a good question actually… So when I ‘green lane’, my insurance is obviously covering me. When I go onto farmland shooting, I’m legally ‘off road’ as it is private land, whether that’s a field or a track. So I don’t need insurance anyway! Unless I were to hit a tree or something. And the...
