It appears grand-dottir may be about to buy a house. Although she is not the oldest of the 6 all the others haven't done this or aren't old enough. Makes buying presents for them easy!! ;)

With coolant circulating at the right temp around the engine, PROPERLY around the engine, which it will not have been doing with no stat in, you may find the centre two plugs firing a proper mixture and the colour becoming more of a match for the others. 🫰🫰🫰

Glad you got to the bottom of the thermostat problem. Do hope it stays OK and no sudden overheating problem occurs. Do hope it all goes back together correctly, but that is a serious bodge. Do you have imperial taps, to clear the threads? You will of course now have to reset the mixture...

We are talking about the piston in the carburettor, as of course you are aware and are just taking the "piston"! Air filter off of course. ;)

Just before I went out this a.m. W's dottir rang up, I went out as the call began. Went to the quacks to book a jab, then moved the car through Tesco's car park and out the other side to park at Motobitz, messed around ordering the right filters and oil for the TD5, (they had the oil in stock)...

    Intermittent SRS Light - Discovery 2 2004

...er, as you know from my previous thread or posts. The connector for the driver's airbag is red, you put up the pic of it!! But the wires do go into yellow conduit or ducting. But I agree, as you know, that he will have to read the fault to find out which of the three items are the problem...

I REALLY, really would ignore the plug that is plugged into nothing, it doesn't have any bearing on your intermittent SRS light. Have you done what I suggested re the SRS connections to both the airbags and the seatbelt tensioners? Your Nanocom should point you in the direction of which one it...

I think that plug would have been a bit more complicated, and also under the other seat. As it is in my D2. But i cannot swear to this.

I have to confess that I am not very "up" in how all this works. I thought that a sacrificial anode works by oxidizing more quickly than the steel the tank is made from. I have no idea about what ours are made of. I just know that our water is acid to a minor extent, i.e. has a ph less than 7...

    Intermittent SRS Light - Discovery 2 2004

to answer your questions point by point: 1/ This is quite common and reflects the make/break nature of connectors. Or maybe wire(s) broken within their insulation. Often it is down to a bit of corrosion. 2/ Yes it is tight, I have always managed to manage to fix the wires under the seats by...

    Intermittent SRS Light - Discovery 2 2004

No, that doesn't look intermittent at all. It isn't connected to anything so cannot be the problem. If you don't have a diagnostic, look at the yellow connectors under each seat. The wires to them are very thin and the connectors are rubbish. If a wire is broken you would be better off...

Getting Gwen the Mini to Run.

I am wondering if maybe the previous owner put plugs in it that are too cool for normal running. I'd go for standard NGK bp6es Agree, this is the correct way to go. More or less. Technically when it is correct, the revs are supposed to rise slightly then drop back again. But I wonder how many...
