The breather on my Series 2 is located at 3 o'clock when looking at it from the outside of the vehicle.

The bolt threads are 7/16 UNF.

Check your throttle position sensor. If it doesn't correctly tell the ECU when your throttle valve is closed it won't activate the idle control valve.

In my experience it's down to the level of scoring /damage where the shaft runs through the seal. Also mentioned on the latest you tube video from Britannica Restorations. The idea of using a Speedy Sleeve on the damaged area was considered. Time will tell.
