has windows updated itself ? With the cable connected, remove the windows usb-serial driver. Then unplug cable, and install the correct FTDI driver. Then try again. It needs to have "good idle" after initialise, or the data reveived is rubbish.

Get yourself an injector cleaner trigger tool. Then take the plenum off & injectors out. That way you can check for both bad injector and the seal around the plenum. Unmetered air leak on the plenum will cause the the O2 sensors to see a lean mix, so the ECU will add fuel !! Same thing...

The procedure is in RAVE. Look for the version with TSB as that covers the 1.8 in the workshop manual section. Don't have a haynes, but it will probably include DIY shortcuts as well.

Try with MAF unplugged, and check plastic resonator box for leaks. Could also be air leaks around the plenum. Take it off & reseal to inlet with RTV sealant.

The only thing that's locked to a license is the engine ECU, so make sure you get the correct GEMS, Thor or Diseasel. It will support the remaining ECU's on any P38.

If the drain is 0.02-0.05 then that’s about right. CCA really needs to be done with battery disconnected. I did one L322 that gave invalid results when connected to the car. Post the details of the CCA tester ?
