I'd agree it's a common issue, I did the switch on mine last weekend. Getting the number plate lamps out was a bit of a fiddle and I ended up cracking the tailgate handle slightly.

I think I've still got a pair of genuine solid pipes that fit from the cylinder to the flexi. They were bought for a 2004 that I no longer own. If you think they might be of use PM me...

I'd say thermostat. Did mine last year as it had failed, but there looked to be evidence of a very slight leak. Fairly common for little leaks where a plastic part meets metal. Tis an auto, so can't do the knock it into neutral test, but I could stick it in manual mode to test if it's related to road speed tho' Like a lot of people, I am working from home at the moment and so haven't driven it for 3 weeks and it looks like I won't be for another 3...

Unfortunately the 1800rpm vibration thing seems quite common with no real explanation or cure from what I've read. Mine does it, but it's never got any worse and sometimes I don't really notice it. I'll mention it to my specialist next time it goes in for a service...
