    Freelander 1 TD4 29,300 Miles

Looks like a proper time warp car, like it.

What have you done to your Freelander today

It's been done (twice!!) since it's been in my ownership. Luckily it's all been covered by warranty:) Think the NSF wheel bearing will be the next thing I call upon said warranty for...

What have you done to your Freelander today

The Haldex and rear diff are next on the hit list, I have all the relevant fluids and parts in stock ready and waiting... PTU has recently been replaced, so I know that is ok for the time being...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Changed the ATF, well about half of it. What came out was fairly brown, but didn't smell burnt. Can't believe the LR interval is 150k Mines done 63k and it definitely benefitted. Iirc the interval for the FL1's Jatco is 60k.

    Freelander 2 bearing noise

I've got the exact same thing and I know it's not the PTU as this has just been replaced. I rang Bell Engineering this week and Austin said his first port of call would be the front wheel bearings and he told me to hold the spring when spinning the wheel while checking them. Just need the...

    FL2 tailgate struts

No problem, I've just got some for the tailgate of my 'new' FL2 which are past their best which has been highlighted in the colder weather. The garage I got it from replaced the bonnet ones with Stabilus units before I picked it up.

What to look for in a FL2

Let us know how you get on. One more thing to look for is matching tyres all round...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Added the often discussed extra earth to my 11 plate FL2. I bought a 36 inch 170 amp cable with a 6mm eye one end and an 8mm at the other from ebay seller 'willinton' I replaced one of the starter bolts with p/n LR012452. It has an M8 stud sticking out of the head. There is also p/n LR001360...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Matching tyres, but Haldex service and diff oil change next on the the list... The guy at the LR place said the PTU's they have changed are mostly on 2011/2012 models... Mines a 2011. And I thought the rear diffs were slightly better from 2011, but my VIN puts it just before this change...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Had my PTU replaced today by a Land Rover specialist. Bought the FL2 from a Renault main dealer and annoyingly I never noticed the noise until I'd been using it for about a week. But all done through warranty, so happy it didn't cost me anything but time. They replaced the start button too as...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Indeed there is. More power, more torque and less road tax. What's not to like?

What have you done to your Freelander today

Part exchanged my 09 plate TD4 for an 11 plate SD4. Both HSE spec.

    FL2 tailgate struts

Get Stabilus ones, they are OE. I paid £27.50 for the pair back in 2018 from N4S Motors who sell on eBay.

    TD4 Injector studs...CRAP!!!

I use lrcat for parts searching as it gives you the numbers. A quick look yeilded MUX100130L or 8510225, LR009825 or 8510026. Can't remember which was for what now, but Google is your friend... The nut is MHY100210. Lrcat shows 2 lots of numbers for different chassis number ranges.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Well today, I changed the glow plugs for the second time after doing them in June... Stupidly I ended up using 5 volt ones first time! 6 hours start to finish. Don't know how that compares to the book time...

Freelander 2 (LR2) Rear tailgate switch........is it me?

Agree that the 500 is a hoot to drive, the wife's is a twin air so is pretty nippy to a point. Can't beat the FL2 with its arm chairs and slush box tho':D I did get to drive my father in laws SD4 at the weekend and the extra 30 horses made their presence felt:D

Freelander 2 (LR2) Rear tailgate switch........is it me?

It must be a 'they all do that sir' thing as my OSR door lock is a bit dodgy too...! Like you Nodge, I bought a replacement and then it starts behaving as it should. For now anyway.... Between my FL2 and my wife's Fiat 500 I seem to be constantly in my tool box at the moment!!

Freelander 2 (LR2) Rear tailgate switch........is it me?

I've recently had to replace the tailgate switch on mine too and the new updated part felt less substantial than the original I removed...
