    90 Roof

I considered that but it is actually really soft and pliable plus the metal part behind it is sat directly on the windscreen surround so it cannot go any lower

    90 Roof

The photos make it look like there is a big gap at the top but there really isnt, there is a black rubber seal there

    90 Roof

Ok any doubts I had about my sanity have been relieved after last night, it just does not fit !!! i unbolted, removed, inspected, cleaned, replaced, wriggled, shuffled, picked it up and dropped it, hung off it, etc etc, it just will not sit any lower. The mounting point inside front is sat...

I did measure from the underside of the lip where the screen folds to the underside of the roof and it was 19" , sorry, I'm that funny age where I can happily drift between imperial and metric quite happily

    90 Roof

I just measured mine by running a flat edge across the windscreen resting on the underside of the gutter each side then measured from there to the underside of the front roof lip and it was 65mm near as

When I looked at the photos earlier I thought the same thing, I thought "I don't remember it looking like it had fiberglass on it" checked it when I got home and it was just some random fluff !! The roof is all solid and have run a straight edge along to check its not bowed

    90 Roof

Thanks for the pics, it might be wishful thinking but it does look like the sides come down further than the one in trying to fit, just come back in from rattling it around again but it still won't sit any lower , I'm at a loss, if you have time could I ask you to measure the distance from...

    90 Roof

In desperation my brother in law dropped his spare 1977 ? series 3 roof round but that early they seem about 3" or 4" shorter just offering it up, and with the flat front of course.

Yes i think roof off is the way forward, it is bizarre and general opinion seems to be that it should fit so i guess i doing it wrong somehow , maybe i will find out tonight

    90 Roof

Unfortunately I had to cut the side bolt off on one side as it was just spinning on the captive nut, I havnt bolted the sides in yet but it doesnt look like that would solve it. maybe i will have a revelation tonight !

    90 Roof

Hi, the door hinges have seen better days so that doesnt help but the rest of the body was untouched, i only took the roof off to get it in the garage, i was sat looking at it for a while wondering if i had managed to bend the chassis or something , ill get my larger persuading stick out tonight...

    90 Roof

Maybe the pictures aren't conveying the problem as the roof will not go any lower, i can see that it needs to be lower at the sides but it is bolted down tight to the top of the windscreen in the photos so it cant go any further. I am confused by it i confess. there are slots for the bolts in...

    90 Roof

I have another go at it tonight, to be honest I cant see that they would have altered the main core of the design so I must be being a spanner !!

I tried it always but in that position in the photo is where the bolt holes line up ?

    90 Roof

Hi, i may be being a bit dim but does anyone know about the 90 (pre defender badged) roof. I have a 1985 90 and it had been off roaded so the roof was in a bit of a state, I had to do some repair work on the electrics but it was too high to fit in my garage so I had to take the roof off. In the...
