Great thread, exactly what I intend doing to mine when the weather gets better, I am looking out for parts so I can refurbish them prior to taking it off the road so I can save some time.

Well that made no difference at all, have extra options but all say "Link Error" except for ABS and Immobiliser. Could it be that there are just no other control modules for it to read? If so that will be £135 wasted.

Just had a message from icarsoft and they have suggested go in to diagnostics and manually search, so I will try this tomorrow.

I have tried using the diagnostic way which asks for you to enter vehicles make an model which only comes up with Abs and Immobiliser, when you try the diagnostic it says “Link Error” with dome checks, cable connected etc.

I have plugged it in and tried the diagnostics and that just comes up with ABS and Immobiliser when you choose Freelander 2000/2006. This is the only thing I can get it to read.

Just had another look at this and the socket looks perfect, nothing looks out of place and cables are all ok in the rear of the socket.

I will have another look tomorrow, tried it on my 06 and it works perfect.

Hi Have had the engine management light come on on my 2004 Facelift TD4. I have purchased a iCarsoft LR V2 diagnostic tool thinking I would be able to see what is wrong, every time I connect it it says Link Error so I can't get a code off it. Is the diagnostic tool not suitable for this model...

Fitted a new CV joint on the 5 door, ready for collection next week after selling it yesterday. Still have my 3 door which isn't for sale.

Purchased another one in November to use as spares for my main one, once I had it home I had a good look around it and decided that it could be worth saving, so that is what I have done, put it through the MOT today and it passed with just 2 advisories, 13 moths MOT on it now, just need to fit...

Does anyone know if the 4 bolts that hold the propshaft carrier bearings to the body are anything special or just normal 8mm?

Oh god purchased another one today.

Well todays enjoyment has been fitting the new fuel tank cradle, what a ball-ache just to refit something with 4 bolts holding it in place. I have also ordered the replacement VCU from Bell Engineering, don't know the history of the one fitted and she has done 93k so better safe than sorry.

Well it has been a busy day again, new discs on the front (Waiting on pads, but that is a different story), new drums and show on the rear. Fitted a new gear linkage bush at the gearbox end and also at the gear-lever end, hateful job. I have also removed the propshaft so I can fit a new fuel...

Fitted the passengers heated seat, now all sorted and working.
