    Won't start...leak off pipe split...

Changed the brittle plastic pipe to the rubber/fabric variety with fuel hose clamps for good measure. Eventually spluttered into life and has been on the first turn of the key since. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks guys. Left it on charge overnight...will put the new pipe on before cranking. Will report back!

    Won't start...leak off pipe split...

My 110 (200Tdi) has been sat around for a good couple of weeks. Tonight I wanted to get it in my garage to sort a few issues as I have an MOT on Saturday. One of the main issues was to replace the diesel leak off/return pipe that goes between the injector pump and no.1 injector. Unfortunately...

    Poor planning and poor attitudes

We know that. But no need to swear at her and then tell everyone on a forum about it. I agree, there are a lot of dumbasses out there at the moment, but swearing at a woman ain't cool. Anyway, moving on.

Couple of Disco 200Tdi in Defender parts questions...

My 1986 110 has a Disco 200Tdi in it. I need to buy a couple of parts but just have a few questions... The fuel return pipe is leaking...there's a split on the pipe that goes from the pump to the no.1 cylinder, right up where it joins the banjo. It's hard plastic, and I've heard replacements...

    Poor planning and poor attitudes

Erm, perhaps if you'd said "ok, just wanted to ask, stay safe and don't take any risks, have a good evening" instead of telling her to **** herself then next time she might actually accept help from a 4x4 driver. Not being funny and I'm sure your intentions were 100% totally honourable but you...

    Toylander type build plans?

Min, here's mine, which is nearly done now. TBH it would have been totally done by now had I built it to plan, but I got a bit obsessed about details, and added lots of additional routing details, door handles/hinges, corrected bulkhead, opening bulkhead vents, proper lights, corrected...

    Starter motor...nooo...today of all days!

Thanks all. So I went out, stuck a multimeter across the battery terminals, 12.2V, put the key in and it started. Again, as the starter motor turns I get a click-click-click from the starter motor (presumably solenoid), what should I be checking now?

    Starter motor...nooo...today of all days!

Help! 110 with a Disco 200Tdi in it. For the last week, the engine has been cranking over fine, however there's been a clicking from the starter motor as the thing has been cranking. Today...nothing...just a dull "click" from behind the dash I think. What is this likely to be and what's the...

Folding windscreen supports on a S2

One for the rivet counters! I know that the S1 sometimes had windscreen supports...simple little folded metal bracket type things that were attached to the bonnet and usually had a bit of webbing on top, that supported the weight of the windscreen when it was folded down. Can anyone tell me if...

    Drone at 60mph...any ideas please?

OK...did the OWUT...yikes, stopped timing at 2 minutes... Obviously I went straight underneath it and came back out some time later minus some knuckes but clutching the propshaft. I ran it up the road and guess what...no more droning. So I've had a look at this very good thread...

    Drone at 60mph...any ideas please?

GrumpyGel that's hugely helpful, thanks. That thread really needs making a sticky and locking down! I will OWUT it at the earliest opportunity, and before I start removing the prop...however I still reckon it's bearing related. Will report back! And thanks again, really useful post.

    Drone at 60mph...any ideas please?

Thanks for the advice everyone. I had a poke around at the weekend but I'm still none the wiser. So firstly I had a look at the propshaft support bearings. Obviously as a Defender man it was all a bit strange under there to me, however the propshaft seems to be held by rubber bearings, and...

    Peterborough this weekend

One word I'm afraid...disappointing. OK so I got a few things I was after, but at least Newbury is a day out in it's own right and there's lots of interesting things to see as you wander round for hours on end. This was really small, and although there was some "show special" pricing I'd have...

    Drone at 60mph...any ideas please?

Hi all... Need a bit of advice on the other half's Freelander please. It's a 2003 TD4 HSE 5 door auto, 117k on the clock and generally in pretty good order. It gets used mainly for very short trips at low speeds, but she's noticed something on a long run at the weekend. At 60mph a low...

    Cheap Chinese LED driving lights...recommendations?

Thanks for the advice. 300bhp...I think I probably want throw/spot, to get some light up the road on main beam for dark country lanes etc. TBH from a purely aesthetic point of view, I prefer the look of round units on the A-bar, and then I might complement it with a roof mounted light bar with...

    Cheap Chinese LED driving lights...recommendations?

I'm after a set of cheap LED driving lights to go on my front A-bar. Now I know it's possible to spend a fortune on bulletproof, lifetime guarantee, Paris-Dakar spec lights with the waterproof capability of a Rolex Submariner, however I'm just after something cheap and cheerful, for very...

    Very poorly 200Tdi...help!

Well to bring this thread to a close, yes the dowels are very important so were duly replaced. I had the head pressure tested, skimmed, valve seats re-machined, and once I re-assembled it valves were vacuum tested and only 1 and 8 needed lapping in. It all went back together fine (apart from...
