Discovery 2 Discovery TD5 ES Auto

I’m down sizing, so my lovely disco is for sale. It’s an immaculate example. Being an ES, it has all the usual luxuries. Comes with stacks of service history. Runs beautifully. I’m looking for £4000 or very near offer. There aren’t many in this condition. SOLD

It’s cured. Was the injector washers all along. All good now, thanks

I don’t want to tempt fate, but it does seem to have cured the problem. Two days and it has started on the button every time. Thanks again for educating me.

Oh right. The other three were worse! Lol Well fingers crossed it’s sorted now. Will report back. Thanks for your help.

Ok, I replaced the injector washers and I rings today. It’s all up and running, but will have to wait and see how it starts over the next few days. The washers I took out didn’t look too bad, to be honest. I found the perfect tool for removing the injectors. Just too one arm off my biggest...

    Disco 2 Td5 manifold nut.

Conclusion was, the whistling suddenly became a whooshing. Looked under the bonnet and saw the turbo to intercoler pipe has come off. Put it back and tightened the big jubilee clip and everything was fine again. No whooshing, no whistling.

Ok, the saga continues. In true Land Rover fashion, it appeared to have fixed itself after I drove it like a maniac for a mile. It went like **** off a shiny shovel and pulled like a train. Since then, it has started with a flick of the key every time......until today. Started perfectly this...

Thanks, fingers crossed it’ll sort my problem, too. I’ve already checked for oil in the loom and it’s all clean.

Ok, thanks. I’ll get cracking as soon as the parts arrive.

    Disco 2 Bio diesel

Ok, here’s an update. Although the td5 loves bio diesel and runs great on it, there are a few things to bear in mind. The td5 has quite a few rubber seals that thebio will degrade. Non return valve in the fuel filter housing, seals in the fuel erasure regulator and injector seals. As far as I...

Ok, will do. That isn’t next move. I just wondered whether there will always be diesel in the oil when they fail. Thanks for the reply.

Disco 2 Another starting issue thread.

Sorry for yet another td5 starting issue thread. I’ve searched and searched, but just found a load of variables and different issues, so I’m still non the wiser? I need to ask some questions to, hopefully, point me in the right direction. I started getting an intermittent starting problem...

Td5 fuel problem, pulling my hair out ☹️

No, it just wouldn’t start without excessive cranking. It was getting worse day by day. No matter how many times I purged the system, it wouldn’t start. Starts with a flick of the key now.

Td5 fuel problem, pulling my hair out ☹️

’ve just replaced my fuel filter housing because of the exact same problem. It gets worse the longer you leave it. What you’re doing, basically, is having to prime the fuel system on every start. New fuel filter housing is about£120, but be aware,if you do it yourself, the two 13mm boltsholding...

    Disco 2 Starter motor

I got the socket on the nut several times, but it was so tight, I couldn’t get it off. There just isn’t enough room to put any real pressure or leverage on it.

    Disco 2 Starter motor

I had a deep socket on a 3/8 extension, with a wobbly bit, then my ratchet, but with all the joints it was hard to put any pressure on the nut. I had no idea you could get to it from above?

    Disco 2 Starter motor

Well, I had the classic click from the starter last week, so purchased the new selanoid contact kit with plunger. Attempted to fit it today, but gave up in the end. The two easy bolts to remove the starter were so tight, it took about an hour and lots of swearing to get them out. Then the fun...
