R380 gear box fill plug rounded

What about filing two opposite edges flat and getting a small spanner on it?

    Cheap defenders?

Thanks folks. Just did a search and been reading about the scam. Hard to believe that anyone would come up for it.

    Cheap defenders?

What's the story with the defenders I'm seeing on eBay that appear too cheap for what they are? There is never a buy it now option and no bidding on them, just an email address? Some of them are silly cheap. It looks like some sort of scam to me.

    Discovery 2 bumper question

Interested to hear you've been running it on bio diesel for three years with no problems. I've been running my 300 tdi on my home made bio diesel for over 4 years with no problems, but I've been thinking about changing to a td5 when my disco finally gives up the ghost. I'd like to keep using my...

    Disco 1 Rear bumper mods.

Steel hd bumper is out of the question due to cost. Plus, whatever I do must be road legal and pass an MOT, ie, no sharp edges sticking out.

    Disco 1 Rear bumper mods.

Is there anything I can do to my rear bumper to get rid of those awful plastic end caps? They get on my tits and look crap because they never sit straight!

    Injection pump locking screw.

Thanks for that. Haynes are showing a photo of a 200 pump and telling me it's a 300!

Disco 1 Wish me luck, I'm going in!

Just as a matter of interest, I had been really pushing my luck with the timing belt, due to finances, that's why I decided to have a go myself. But the belt had gone 4 years and 90000 miles and it looked as good as the new belt that I've just put on!

Disco 1 Wish me luck, I'm going in!

That's it, job done. Just been for a long drive and all is as it should be. I'm well chuffed! I know if I'd have got stuck, there would have been loads of advice, so thanks anyway.

Disco 1 Wish me luck, I'm going in!

New belt in, tensioned and everything still lines up. Just putting it all back together now!

Disco 1 Wish me luck, I'm going in!

I'm in! timing belt looks in very good nick, but it's coming off anyway. Bit of oil leaking from inner crank seal, so I'm glad I got the kit with seals.

Disco 1 Wish me luck, I'm going in!

Sounds like a good idea, but I bet it's a sruggle putting the belt on under tension. I fell at the first hurdle. Thought I could manage to get the viscous fan off with the tools I had, but just wasted an hour running around plumbing shops to get a spanner that will actually fit into the narrow gap!

Disco 1 Wish me luck, I'm going in!

I'm just about to start changing the timing belt on my 300 tdi. I've never attempted the job before, so feeling apprehensive! Hopefully, I won't need to post again until it's all done!

    Tdi or td5?

Point taken, but if the td5 was more economical than the tdi, I might not have to keep making the bio. I retire next year, so won't be covering anywhere near the miles I do now.
  15. Steviecops

    Tdi or td5?

Probably aerodynamics, but my 300 tdi disco returns, on average, low 30's rural driving and mid to high 30's on a run. I done away with the erg and cat and got a straight through exhaust. Plus, I drive slowly, lol. I don't thrash the bollocks out of it and hardly ever go above 60 mph on the...

    Tdi or td5?

Ok, thanks. How do the tdi and td5 compare when it comes to fuel consumption?

    Tdi or td5?

I'm not going to go off roading, except driving stuff up the field to the horses, and I'm not going to want to race anyone, lol. I just want a reliable, (as they can be, lol), Land Rover to get me from A to B. I want to be able to service and fix it myself. If I can do that with a td5 and a...

    Tdi or td5?

Speed isn't an issue. I'm used to my disco 300 tdi being slow and I have a 120 mile round trip to and from work. I rarely, if ever, go above 60 mph and I don't go above 2000 rpm when changing up through the gears.
