Advice on buying a Series 3

Thanks for the replies! Yeh I went looking at it properly and the chassis was way past my welding capabilities. The stuff he put on it I.e the bulkhead and new panels was 8yts ago so they're still good just surface rust now. Think I'll save for a running projet

Advice on buying a Series 3

Chassis is near perfect and bulk head is brand new. Engine hasn't been started in over 20 years but I'm told it will go pretty easy with a bit of fettling. He thinks it may take another £400-£500 to get roadworthy.

Advice on buying a Series 3

Yeh that's what I'm thinking, its a damn shame because the whole thing is practically together. The dash needs putting back and then a bit of rewiring. The engine needs attention as its not ran in 20+yrs. Looks like I'll have to give it a miss and wait for a running project I can get to grips with.

Advice on buying a Series 3

He rescued it from a quarry so it was battered, he got it to a workable stage then decided to buy a 90, then he decided to fix his mk2 jag he has in his garage. Then he got a load of PPI back and bought a 2014 Puma defender (which is what he always wanted). He says it shouldn't take long really...

Advice on buying a Series 3

Cheers pal, I think my mate would be heart broke if I sold it. He's owned it since 1993 and wants me to have it so I can keep it forever. I have another car as a daily driver but no space to repair the Series.

Advice on buying a Series 3

My mate is wanting to sell his Series 3 to me, its sat on his drive and has done for over 20yrs. Its a project and will need a bit of work to get going again. I've never done a project before so it would be my first, he wants to sell it to me for £1k and all the parts I need come with the...

Advice on buying a Series 3

A friend of mine has 3 Land Rovers and his Series 3 is sat on his drive in a state of disrepair. It would take a bit of elbow grease and late nights to get it road worthy again but he is wanting to sell it to me for £1k. I have never done a project before and don't really have the space or time...

What would be a better daily runner?

What would be a better daily runner?

Budget I'm hoping around £3k, don't mind a resto job at all. A bloke I work with has a Tdci (that hes making to look like an Urban Truck - and he's doing a bloody good job), a 2.5 diesel 90 and a series 3! He's just informed me he has a 2.25 petrol engine too! I might be in luck. Definitely...

What would be a better daily runner?

cheers pal! To be fair I never thought about that, the series would come in cheaper anyway with not paying tax and what not (dependant on age). Definitely something to think about!

What would be a better daily runner?

I'm after a 90 or series but can't decide what would be a better daily runner? Either a petrol or diesel? I live about 5 miles from work so do about 10 miles a day. Is there a clear choice or will it just come down to my preference? Ta

    Looking at getting a Disco 2 TD5

HAHAAHA thanks pal, i'll keep it in mind. My mate who has just bought one is ex military and fixed the Landy's in the army so I think he knows his way around (or at least I'm hoping he does). I'll keep my eyes out for the under carriage being rotten, and try not to get drawn in to the shiny...

    Looking at getting a Disco 2 TD5

thanks @neilly pal! I've always been a Defender man but my mate just bought a Disco 2 and I've been hooked ever since. I just wanted to know the basics really, what the rough parts are and how easy to fix? What should I be looking at getting for £4k?

    Looking at getting a Disco 2 TD5

I had a 90 many years ago before the mrs got pregnant. At the time the easiest thing to do was get a "sensible " family car as my 90 only had 2 seats. I have hated all 4 years 3months and 16 days of owning my Vauxhall. So, as I have had enough its time for a change! I want to ask what the things...
