Right, flog the Latitude Cross and have followed Wimblowdriver's suggestion and ordered 2 new XLZs. I do like the XLZs :)

Thanks for reply, any particular reason you favour the XLZ's? I prefer them myself, but assume the Latitude Cross is more sensible - fuel economical and smoother/quieter ride.

    Mixing Tyres

Hello We bought a 110 SW, 10k miles ago, with 4 new Michelin XLZ tyres - off-road/Military style. The spare was a Michelin Latitude Cross - more of a road tyre. Got a puncture the other day and put on the Latitude cross. Now transpires that punctured tyre cannot be fixed, and we're told that...

    torque, electrics, and other problems

I've installed the drop plate and ball, it did not go well. I bought a torque wrench, but the drop plate bolts are so awkward to get at ... When I did use the torque wrench I bend/distorted the washers. Also, nuts just turned with the bolts and its so difficult to get a hold of the on these drop...

Noted, thanks, I'll get myself a torque wrench.

    torque, electrics, and other problems

Thanks dag019, maybe I'll get this torque wrench and go a bit further as you say, sounds like I need to go tighter than I could with my cheap and feeble wrench ... Now that you've mentioned it, I notice the 8.8 stamped onto the bolts that came with the drop bar - wish they'd included a couple...

    torque, electrics, and other problems

Hello, from SW France. Had our 2010 CSW serviced in Brighton last week and drove back to France yesterday. On the way, the handbrake light came on, for no good reason. It now comes on when the hand brake is down, and goes off when the hand brake is up! In the early hours of this morning, with a...

    fluids and filters

It suddenly occurs to me, that I will not be able to change the filter, next week, without changing the oil again! Not too tragic I suppose. What's more important changing oil or filter, or both equal? The filter must be at least 14k miles old...

Excellent point! I wouldn't have thought of that, but I was only topping up on this occasion.

So the oil & oil filter change didn't go well. Managed to buy Mann filter. Started the job, the oil change was successful, after another trip to shop for a tool to get sump plug out - I'm amassing a lot of tools. Then the filter change... Didn't have a tool to get filter cover off, too late now...

Here is a picture, seems to be seeping through the bolt at 6 o'clock maybe, or the seem between 5-6 0'clock. A few drops over night, but maybe it would be worse when driving? Photo didn't work ...

    fluids and filters

With help from a very excellent Frenchman, got a 13mm square thing. axle oil topped up, very awkward business, most of the oil ended up on the floor with the rest evenly divided between axle and my clothes. I'm calling it a victory. I did go to the Mann site, but I admit that I didn't...

Cheers dag019. Maybe the antifreeze can wait, it's only 1cm below the cold level ... I'll top up the power steering though as that's near the min. As for the tool for the axle, I've got nothing, gonna try another shop now ... Thanks again.

    fluids and filters

I've just returned from my local motoring outlet, in France, almost empty-handed. I want to change my oil filter, they stock Mann filters, but which one for a 2010 110 2.4 tdci - anyone know? I seem to be leaking oil from the front axel. I've identified the appropriate oil, but can't seem to...

    Water leak in footwells

I get this on both footwells. It's a small/tiny amount of water that gets in at bottom of door - which is then absorbed/sucked in my the mats, causing more and more water to come in. Solution - put something under the mats so they don't quite touch floor by the door.

    road tyres for steel rims

It's a Michelin Latitude Cross, which is not exactly a road tyre, but more so than the tyres I'm actually using which are Michelin O/R. The former has a slightly better fuel efficiency rating and is quieter ... Maybe I'll just go for whichever is cheaper at the time :)

    road tyres for steel rims

This is my spare, which is a 7.50/16 road tyre, right? I prefer the look of the off-road versions ... But I assume this one will give a better/safer ride on the motorway, be fuel efficient, last longer?
