    Td5 auto box pressuring

The first thing I would be doing is to: 1. Check the fluid level in the autobox, using the correct procedure. Do this on a cold engine. If it's over full it is more likely to pressurise, especially if coupled with point no.2. 2. Check/test/clear the gearbox breather pipe - it sounds...

Hi mate, here's a few silver bonnets at reasonable money. I couldn't find one with the exact paint code, but if painting is required it'll be easier & therefore cheaper to paint silver over silver: LAND ROVER DISCOVERY SERIES 2 (1998-2004) FRONT BONNET FINISHED IN SILVER | eBay LAND ROVER...

    CD changer

Hi Steve, once you have removed the std head unit (which is 1.5 DIN) you'll almost certainly find that the plastic trim is already in place !!!! Dave

    Remapped!

Actually it's exactly the opposite ! When you get out of the car, it weighs less therefore the body rises slightly and because the system is still 'live' it compensates by letting a little air out of the bags, until the normal ride height sensor readings are achieved. Dave

    Flat spot and leak

Re your questions: 1. This is consistent with normal TD5 operation although it is sometimes improved by: Renewing the air filter & Cleaning the MAP sensor on the inlet manifold. I use aerosol brake and clutch cleaner on it. 2. Leaking sunroofs almost certainly. The only real way of...

Disco 2 '02 auto steering linkage change out.

Hi Rob, re the bumper bear in mind that there are three layers. The end caps are the top layer. Beneath that is the full width plastic cover and beneath that is the steel bumper support. Here are some part number that you might find useful: DPT000020LML - CAP - BUMPER END, PRIMED, FRONT...

That looks very smart Rob, mind you why shouldn't it? It is YOUR Disco after all. Beautiful piece of work there mate. Dave

    Remapped!

That's great news Steve, I'm really pleased that you've "turned the corner" with D2 ownership and are now in the blissful zone. Just please don't forget that to get the very best in terms of reliability and performance, these cars need a lot more "hands-on" maintenance than LR would have you...

Disco 2 '02 auto steering linkage change out.

Hi Rob, so you could argue that you have a budget of £550 to do the repair yourself? For that amount of money, unless there is unseen damage you should be able to do it easily. Dave

    I wouldn't doubt it mate - going 2nd-hand is a viable alternative.

Can't select low range advice needed

Just before you start ripping out the centre console can you tell us whether it's got a manual or auto gearbox? IF it's an auto, you do know you've got to put it into neutral on the autobox before your can shift into low? Dave

Looked at a cheap Disco 2 and walked away. But should I reconsider?

Unfortunately the snap-on kit will be almost useless. Land Rover products were not OBD-compliant until the arrival of DIII. You really need to own or have access to either Hawkeye, Nano Evo or Lynx dedicated diagnostic tools. Budget about £250-£300 but will pay for itself XXXXX over. Dave

    Disco 2 lift advice

Hi Chris, here's a few thoughts off the top of my head: 1. I ran a TD5 std height with 265/75/16's and it was perfect, no lift required. Does depend a bit on the tyres you are running, but a lift is not absolutely essential to fit those tyres; 2. Bear in mind the lowest part of the car are the...

Looked at a cheap Disco 2 and walked away. But should I reconsider?

He obviously wants to get rid of this vehicle, so it could be a pain in the arse or it could be a bargain. Unfortunately only you can decide that. 1. Re the chassis rust :you can buy prepared repair panels and sensible money, just clean up the old section and weld the new one over the top, job...

Disco 2 '02 auto steering linkage change out.

Hi Rob, depending on the amount of 'excess' you have on your policy, I would be inclined to do the repair myself without involving the insurance company at all. 2nd hand parts prices: 1. Bonnet about £70 and if you do a good look around you'll find one the same colour so it's just a bolt...

Anyone ever tried upgrading heater controls on a disco 1 to the disco 2 digital ones

It sounds like your problem is caused by a faulty "variable resistor" which is on the fan casing. Easy enough to get at and cheap enough to change. That would give you reliable variable speeds again. Don't know about the rest of your question though, as D2 Climate Control is all ECU...

fault 4014 pump failure 3 sticking

I wonder if you gave a little more information, you might get a better response? Such as where did this code come from when using your Hawkeye - was it in the SLABS section, for example?
