    2002 td5 auto gearbox problem

The gearbox behaviour you describe is perfectly normal and shows your gearbox is working correctly. If you put your foot to the floor, that changes the revs at which the gears change, if you ease back a bit, the gears will change at lower revs.

    BUGGER-coolant leak TD5 HELP!

Hello Martin, I hope for your sake that the K-seal doesn't block any of the small coolant galleries in the head and thermostat assy. Otherwise your £10 fix could turn out to be a very expensive one. :(:oops:

    discovery td5 M and S light flashing?

I'm not sure if you're right tbh, if the switch to ECU relationship is not re-established, the EATS will not send the signals to the BCU to illuminate the gear lever lights and dashboard indicator.

    discovery td5 M and S light flashing?

Using your Hawkeye you should be able to set the switch up so that it operates correctly. With the hawkeye connected and selecting the transmission ECU (EATS), get an assistant to select each position in turn and see what Hawkeye shows. Re-position the switch until the results on Hawkeye show...

    discovery td5 M and S light flashing?

Hi Malcolm I'm assuming that you're talking about the M & S lights flashing ? This can be caused by a number of things : 1. Lack on volts on start-up. If there is any weakness in the battery and if the driver turns the key straight to engine start (rather than leaving the key at pos. II for a...

You can see one at least of those bushes is worn and needs replacing. If it were mine I would replace all 4 bushes as well as the centre bearing. Have a look here:

    L322 Thinking seriously about buying an L322 3.0 TD6 - advice please?

Hi all I did do a search for L322 Buying advice - but for the most part all I got was loads of threads asking for - you guessed it - "L322 Buying advice". Isn't there a definitive thread that lists all the stuff to be aware of?

    L322 Thinking seriously about buying an L322 3.0 TD6 - advice please?

Hi guys, I'm giving very serious thought to buying an L322 diesel and I'm looking for advice about this vehicle. What are the known issues/things to avoid etc. I'm an experienced LR owner having had maybe 5 TDi's and the same amount of TD5's, so I accept that owning old LR's requires a certain...

    My disco build thread.

Hello Cooper, just to answer your slight anxiety about purchasing a D2 (TD5 I assume?) let me assure you that the basic design of the mechanics and structure are well done and with a thorough 'preventative maintenance' history, will provide you with an excellent vehicle. Unfortunately even when...

Disco II Air suspension – the definitive guide!

Just done the rear air springs on a friends D11 and would like to add the following: 1. DO NOT attempt to do this if you don't have new retaining clips as well as new springs. The ones I just removed were destroyed by rust. 2. It is a wise precaution that you disconnect the battery whilst...
