    Oil pressure gauge

So, I haven’t had any luck with the gauge adapters as of yet. I also purchased a new sender but that does fit either. Has anyone got any idea what thread I need to be buying? I’m not really sure how to tell. Picture shows current sender at the top, gauge adapter in the middle and the new...

    Oil pressure gauge

Hey everyone, I recently bought a durite capillary oil pressure gauge to use as a temp install to assess the pressure due to low warning light coming on and staying on whilst engine running (otherwise running normally). However, the adapter doesn’t fit. Any ideas where I can get one that will...

    Series 3 Grind on over-run?

Thinking about proper car control- i.e. position, speed, gear, acceleration. The ‘proper’ method is to adjust vehicle speed before selecting a gear to navigate the hazard whatever that may be; so braking or using engine retardation to adjust to the correct speed for the hazard (corner, junction...

Thanks chaps. I’ll look at getting a gauge. Thoughts on electrical vs mechanical? Are there complete kits available these days. I’ll google. Is the pump an easy job? Sump out? Dan

    oil pressure light

Evening. So I've been using my series 3 2.25 petrol on a few shortish runs to pick up the dog etc. Its been running fine, occasional miss fire but nothing concerning. The oil pressure light is now coming on and staying on. Previously it had flickered on at idle and then gone off as soon as...

    Embarrassment

Might have embarrassed myself this evening ‍♂️ Took the old girl out for a spin now that she’s running...ish and she died on me a few miles from home. Couldn’t get her started again. Called the AA to recover me home - turns out I may have run out of fuel. What an idiot!! Anyone else made the...

So managed to adjust the timing slightly by turning the distributor once running. I would go as far as say it helped but still not perfect. I’m going to take off, clean and where possible service the carb. And once the electronic distributor arrives will give that a go too. Thanks for the help.

Thanks col for the tip. I had been running it with additive but because it hasn't run for so long I have just put in some unleaded i had in a fuel can for now. Need to get to a motor factors. So I have started to get somewhere with the old girl. She is now starting each time albeit a little...

I'm south of Oxford. I've got a new electronic distributor on its way to me as we speak. I had purchased one previous but after contacting the supplier I may have a faulty one so just waiting for that to arrive. Believe she is still on her original carb and almost certainly due a rebuild. Its...

Thanks again for everyones help. Much appreciated. I took a quick video earlier but can’t seem to upload it. It seems to be missing when I rev it up and getting occasional back fire up the intake. So I’m guessing timing. The sparking issue I’m at loss but it seems to firing for the moment at...

Hey, I've been having numerous problems with the ignition on my 1980 SIII 2.25 petrol. Managed to get it running but still not happy with it. Considering taking it to a land rover specialist to get the timing and general running adjusted. anyone have any suggestions for places to take it...

    Won’t start!

So new points, condenser, rotor arm, distributor cap and ignition coil hasn’t solved the problem. I was getting a good spark when I gave the coil a direct feed from the battery and opening the points manually. A new electronic distributor from Simon bbc hasn’t seemed to have solved it...
