The cap was on tight. The rad was replaced not long before I brought it I believe.

i have had my TD5 for nearly a year and apart from needing rear ACE pipes it's been pretty good. Apart from its thirst for water. I filled it with fresh antifreeze mix at the start of the year and have topped it up so often its now just filled with plain water. I've changed the cap for one...

Will have another go it trying to get to the plug near the gearbox this weekend and see if I can test if power is coming from the switch and as you say may be not getting up to the plug near the window switches.

Sorry for the delay. Finally managed to check what you asked. Took fuse 25 out and ignition in, no brake lights so correct fuse, gear display works fine through all Gears.

Well rolled under the car, saw the plug, even managed to touch it but without removing the exhaust I think that's as far as I can go. I will resume the switch is faulty but as its causing no other issues I will live without reverse lights or parking sensors for now. Thanks again for all...

I've checked the meter all along, found which wires were live. I will try to get to the plug under the car and I guess if no power then its new XYZ switch time?

plugged the yellow plug in and all seems good, by that i mean dash displays gears so back as was

ive gone back a step and checked the plug under the window switches and there is no power from there

I unplugged the yellow plug from the BCU to test pin 8 with ignition on in reverse as it should be getting power right? No voltage to that pin at all.

Ive looked for 0294 behind the fuseboard and there are no plugs its saying its a green 20 pin female plug but the only green plug goes into the back of the fuseboard and its not 20 pin

I managed to separate the plug, it was a pain. Only way I could check power to the purple or take power as the wire was bigger and no probe or piece of wire would poke down. Confirmed it was live and connected it to the green/brown and the reverse lights went on.

Will a live from battery be ok?
