P6 V8 manifolds and loss of power

My 1974 88 has a Rover P6 auto in it and doesn't have a fuel return. It has a Facet fuel pump and an in line filter after the pump (just a generic 2 inch round job (you can see it to the right of the airbox) but you can see the fuel in it so a good indicator that you're getting a good feed)...

    Hood Recommendations.

Citizen Kane - that was the picture I used when I was trying to find out who's it was as the windows look "right". I can confirm its an AWT hood and I had mine made with side windows in sand, was going to go black but in the end just bought a black bikini (for the Landy not me) although haven't...

    Series 3 Side light fittings

If all 4 have gone it must be the switch?-mine had a dodgy switch when I bought it which seems to have self cured itself, after i'd bought a replacement. Have you got power to them when the switch is at the first click down. If so maybe an earth issue. All 4 going off isn't the bulb or the...

    v8 series with lt77 gearbox?

My speedo reads low, around 30 on the speedo and I'm doing over 40. Just get a sat nav to record actual speed and put some markers around the speedo to record 30,40,50,60 and 70 if brave.

    Front apron and bumper fitment.

This is the bracket for the front panel, you'll need 2. http://www.lrseries.com/shop/product/listing/706/345192-FRONT-APRON-PANEL-BRACKET.html It fits under the radiator panel and then the front panel sits on it. I'll be doing mine soon as it was converted to a Defender front end and I'm...

    v8 series with lt77 gearbox?

I have a SWB S3 with a Rover V8 (with carbs) and looked at a LT77/R380 box as when I bought it 3rd gear would make funny noises so it was either rebuild or replace. The quote for the 5 speed box was over £4k so I had the original rebuilt (and new clutch) for under £1k. Its got 3.54 diffs...

Cat flap parts - anyone have anything?

Just bought one in very good condition but not glass or any other parts needed to fit other than the top hinges that attach to the door, but not the pin or the hinge holder that fits above the flap inside the truck. Also need one of the guides on the side where the locking mechanism goes...

    Heater control

Fitting the control cable but there isn't a grub screw on the holder at the controls end to hold the cable in place. I could put a grip on either side I guess but would rather just use the original set up - any idea what the thread size is for the grub screw? Also need 2 studs to secure the...

heater control levers securing stud size/thread

M5 doesnt fit. Thread is finer.

heater control levers securing stud size/thread

Mine isn't attached plus I dont have a hot/cold cable which I guess happened when the engine was changed to a V8. I'm going to put a TX1 heater control vale and cable in but want to secure the heater control levers. Any idea on the thread on these. It seems to be the same as the steering cowl...

Series 3 Temp gauge reading high

I've cleaned up an earth I found by the steering column inside the engine with 2 black cable which feed back into the cabin so this may help.

Series 3 Temp gauge reading high

Thought the voltage stabiliser was on the back of the speedo, part number 148876. I can see it, just trying to work out how much I have to remove to get access to it. It has a darker green and a lighter green cable attached to it but only those 2. I think the darker green comes from the fuse...

Would it be the wire feeding the voltage stabiliser as its affecting both gauges? Will check earths too.

Series 3 Temp gauge reading high

Drove the truck yesterday and noticed the temp gauge went down into the black but the fuel gauge also dropped from 3/4 to 1/2 so they must be linked somehow. Is there something on the back of the gauge that could be my problem? When it went back into the red the fuel gauge also went up. Just...

Series 3 Temp gauge reading high

Thanks. I believe the thread is 5/8" and uses a 19mm spanner to get it in/out. The part number for the P6B (which is the 3500 V8) is 560855 which the Intermotor part I bought is. The old sensor worked fine but the garage snapped the end off but I cant recall what they did with old one. All I...

Series 3 Temp gauge reading high

Checked the resistance readings yesterday and when cold (12.5c) the reading is 1350 ohms, at 20C it reads 370, at 30C 13-127 and temperatures above that the readings fluctuate wildy, changing every 1/2 second from -117 (yes minus) to 32 at 58C for example. Is this right or is my "new" sensor...

    Series 3 New tilt recommendations

I got my sticks from Undercover (best price and checked included everything and is galvanised although I haven't opened the box yet - had 3 months!) and canvas from AWT but not fitted them yet. The AWT windows looked right and the price was the best but when I spoke with Undercover they told me...

    Alternator bracket woes

Thanks, got a stud from a local fixings supplier. The alternator sits on the left looking from the front of the truck. I'm guessing the alternator originally sat underneath the bracket but due to the coolant hoses and battery tray this isn't now possible, hence the bodge. [GALLERY=] [GALLERY=] FFG

Series 3 Temp gauge reading high

Series 3, 1974 with a 3.5 Rover V8. Changed the temp sensor as the connector had snapped off (garage did it when messing with the SU's) so bought this, which is compatible with the 1971 P6B engine it on. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191598899367 Now reads just under the red and creeps into the red...
